The purpose of the role is to provide leadership to the Unisa Catering Services (Pty) Ltd and contribute to the sustainability, growth and profitability of the company by developing, implementing, maintaining, and managing its overall strategy, team and strategic, business and operational plans and to be accountable to the Board of Directors of the UCS. Duties and Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership Provide strategic leadership in line with the Board approved strategy of the UCS. Contribute to the sustainability, growth and profitability of the company by developing, implementing, maintaining and managing the overall strategy for a high-performing, professional and transformational organisation. Promote the vision, mission and values of the UCS and ensure that objectives are met in line with the shareholder mandate at all times Financial And Business Development Develop, guide and manage the implementation of systems that provide sound financial management, accounting, procurement, internal controls in line with the approved policies of UCS. Ensure business continuity and source new business with an objective to expand and increase UCS financial resources. Employee Relations And Talent Management Drive the recruitment process of UCS through effective resource utilisation with reference to knowledge production and harvesting, talent acquisition, staff capacitation and retention, increased organisational performance. Create and promote a high-performance culture, professionalism and integrity. Ethical Leadership reate and practice ethical leadership by ensuring good governance in the efficient, effective and financial oversight, management and administration of the business of UCS. Stakeholder Relations Develop and manage partnerships and collaborations with all stakeholders including peer institutions and government entities. Ensure good service to all UCS customers while keeping good relations with all UCS stakeholders Risk And Compliance Develop and implement processes that enhance proper governance, effective risk management and continued compliance with regulatory policies, directives and applicable legislation. Requirements Formal qualifications: Master of Business Administration (MBA) or relevant equivalent degree (NQF Level 9) Additional qualifications/certification and experience that would serve as an added advantage A sound understanding , management and working experience in the food or hospitality industry. Experience required A minimum of 15 years working experience of which 5-8 years should be in an executive position. Experience in working with Boards of Directors/MANCO operating within a medium to large sized organisation. Experience in working with start-up companies at an executive level. Proven experience in the implementation of a turnaround strategy and strategy formulation. Comprehensive knowledge and experience on financial management, budgeting, fund raising and debt collection Competencies: Business Environment Understanding of the functioning of the food/hospitality industry Good understanding of the business requirements and needs of UCS. Legislation and Regulations Sound knowledge and understanding of the legislation and regulations, inclusive of legislative and regulatory bodies within the Higher Education Sector and the hospitality industry. A good understanding and working knowledge and legislative requirements of UCS as a company and its shareholder. Technical Competence Ability to lead and give guidance to executives in the application of respective technical areas Communication Above average communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to be clear, succinct, and impactful in communicating decisions and instructions to colleagues and stakeholders Analytical ability and problem solving Solution driven with the ability to strategically and systematically create a platform for executives and managers to continuously identify and resolve organisational challenges.
