Job purpose: Ultimately accountable for all production and production planning (Abattoir and Foods Plant) of the Group according to the Quality, Compliance, Health and Safety regulations. Overall responsible for the maintenance service of all assets and equipment excluding IT infrastructure, throughout the Group Line Manager : CEO Number of direct and indirect reports: 500 (this includes the responsibility of the Production, Abattoirs, Maintenance and Planning departments) Minimum requirements: Degree in Operations discipline Minimum of 12 years’ Operational experience Minimum 5 – 8 years’ experience on Management level in FMCG (preferable perishable goods) Central Packing experience Experience on Packing Technology Financial awareness Personal Competencies: Planning skills Process Management Business Acumen Directing others Decision Quality Building effective teams Managing and measuring others Innovation awareness Strategic Agility Output: Planning Oversee planning department, to ensure the development and implementation of effective short, medium- and long-term planning strategies to synchronize market / client demands with available raw material, taking into account infrastructure and logistical ability Implement planning and operational strategies to optimize operational efficiencies and customer service level Oversee procurement function with regards to packaging procurement, ensuring timely, accurate and cost-effective procurement, whilst building strategic relationships with suppliers Production & Warehousing (including Abattoirs) Develop, review and implement efficient and effective procedures and processes to optimize production Optimization -cost effective utilization of current equipment, space, assets and human capital Manage and optimize cutting yields Research to implement best available future technology and skills Responsible for the delivery of product according to a set standard, at a reasonable cost and productivity Oversee production planning to align with Sales and Procurement forecasts and targets Responsible for inventory management, including accuracy and control of record keeping and optimising working capital Oversee total warehousing function, ensuring accurate stockholding, picking and loading of trucks Maintenance Oversee maintenance function, to ensure the development and implementation of preventative and incident maintenance strategies, processes and procedures. Accountable for the routine maintenance of all assets and equipment excluding IT infrastructure. Continuous improvements of upgrades and extensions Management of SLA’s with outsourced providers Strategic Management Consider internal and external environment to help formulate and update the Group business strategy as factors change Identify and implement performance measures to realize divisional strategy as part of the long term strategy. Ensure sustainable and profitable growth Budget and Cost Control Drive annual planning by compiling operational costs, -overheads and capex budgets for relevant area, as well as strategies to achieve these to ultimately increase profit Set SMART KPI’s to track plans. Analyse variances and create remedial actions to achieve budget Participate in weekly price determination process for abattoir / wholesale procurement People Management Conduct workforce planning to ensure the team is suitably staffed to meet functional objectives taking into account various internal and external factors Implement, drive and manage all people development initiatives linked to the Human Resources Strategy including performance management, succession planning, talent management etc. to ensure the team’s performance meets the required standards Set medium to long term goals and objectives for the relevant area of control and monitor progress against these Plan, organise, lead and control subordinate's activities to ensure functional objectives are met or exceeded Assure stable employee relations by managing conflict and creating a positive and performing working environment SHEQ Ensure acceptable personal hygiene of all staff at all times Manage correct use of PPE at all times Process and product hygiene standards maintained at all times All duties are performed according to the Cavalier Group Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and procedures Teamwork / Staff Engagement Living the company values in an individual and team capacity aimed at building a cohesive working environment Actively participate in all people development initiatives linked to the Human Resources Strategy including but not limited to: performance management; succession planning; talent management; change, process optimisation and engagement initiatives etc. to ensure the team’s performance meets the required standard Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal (peers / team members / managers) as well as external (service providers etc.) relationships and implement remedial actions when required to ensure achievement of organisational goals Provide relevant and specialized technical support, where required, to peers and colleagues to ensure achievement of objectives Apply Now
