DMS Powders is the world leader in the production, distribution and marketing of dense media ferrosilicon powders and wishes to fill the following vacancies Civil Artisan to maintain, inspect, repair, and rebuild the refractory linings of the M8 and M9 furnaces. Lays firebrick, refractory tiles, ceramic compound, and fluid refractory material to build, rebuild, or reline these furnaces according to job orders, manuals, and drawings. Lays out work, using tapes, squares, and levels. Laying of refractory brick Install and maintain poured castable and refractory materials Install gunniting material Install and maintain the furnace protection systems Breaking out of civil masonry Liaises with engineers, supervisor, and other technical workers to assist with equipment installation, maintenance, and repair techniques. Assist with training of apprentices. Comply to DMSP HIRA standard such as “I am safe” prior performing a task. Provide detailed daily feedback. Identify and solve/improve equipment problems to improve efficiencies. Plans new/modified installations to minimise waste. Work according to DMSP specifications and accepted structural codes. Inspect reconditioned units for compliance to the QCP or DMSP standards when required. Perform and ensure potential energy isolation, verification of isolation, and the reversal thereof. Perform elevated work. Perform standby duties and overtime as required by the business. Adhere to all DMSP safety standards and OSHAct and its Regulations Matric / N3 certificate Qualified Artisan - Recognised applicable national trade certification (red seal). National Driver's license, Code 08 and own transport. Minimum five years' experience in heavy engineering environment. Experience in plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying and refractory is compulsory.
