STRUCTURAL STEEL & REINFORCED CONCRETE • Perform analyses, establish user requirements, define design criteria, and establish layouts and designs for the company's structural steel products as well as reinforced concrete foundations. • Prepare engineering calculations such as structural modelling, stress analysis, member sizing, as well as ensuring that all analyses satisfy user and system requirements for structural steel and reinforced concrete. • Prepare data sheets. • Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise. • Prepare or provide input to 3D models and 2D layout drawings. • Participate in and contribute to design reviews. • Carry out assigned tasks within budget and schedule. B Tech (Civil) or BEng (Civil), with specialisation in structures EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years' experience in structural analysis / design of beam/column type structures PREFERRED SKILLS: • Good working knowledge of structural design codes (SANS 1060/SANS 1062). • Capability and experience in computer aided analysis and design software, specifically Prokon and Finite Element packages. • Computer literacy including the interaction between drawing and design software. GENERIC SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS • Self-driven personality (Internal locus of control) • Must take initiative. ADDITIONAL NOTES THIS IS AN IDEAL POSITION FOR RETIRED ENGINEERS, OR ENGINEERS WISHING TO WORK FROM HOME ON A PART TIME BASIS. POST GRADUATE STUDENTS IN STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS SEEKING PART TIME EMPLOYMENT MAY ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
