Description Role Purpose M-Pesa is a pioneering fintech business and global market leader in mobile money. With headquarters in both Nairobi and Johannesburg, we serve markets that include Kenya, Tanzania, DRC, Lesotho, Ghana, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Mozambique. The purpose of the role is to support M-pesa's cloud native environments. To support the software development teams to maintain their CI/CD pipelines and to install, administer, tune, patch, and upgrade servers related to cloud infrastructure. Additionally the role also includes the development and maintenance of infrastructure as code practices. Key accountabilities and decision ownership: • Configure and support client VPN connections in production and test environments. • Manage CI/CD of the current code base and improvements. • Install, administer, tune, patch, and upgrade Linux servers related to VPN infrastructure. • Manage AWS VPC, EC2, WAF, CloudWatch, S3, SG, Lambda, Load Balancer (ALB/ELB), and routing. • Manage firewall rules, IPtable rules, and WAF rules. • Work experience with Terraform for configuration management. • Manage HAProxy servers.Work experience with Site-to-Site VPN (Preference for Strongswan). • Implement DevOps practices with GIT and AWS code repository. • Possess good network troubleshooting skills. • Experience using tools like tcpdump and Wireshark. • Security experience related to SSL Certificates, networking, Linux, and AWS. • Troubleshoot network-level connectivity. • Provide L3/L4 support for VPN infrastructure. • Deploy, automate, maintain, and manage AWS cloud-based systems to ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and security. • Coordinate with system developers and project managers. • Prepare implementation plans and deploy consistent releases while maintaining SLAs. • Assist and guide the technical support team in resolving critical issues. • Continuously monitor, troubleshoot, and fix software and hardware issues. • Prepare documents for support and maintenance and provide on-call support. • Prepare and update product documents. • Knowledge in Sprint planning and handle client meetings. • Submit RCA reports to management. • Train and guide subordinates within the team. Key performance indicators: • Ensuring project timelines are met • Ensuring deployment plans are submitted on time • Ensuring deployment plan implementation is completed correctly and on time • Maintain and resolve Service Desk tickets as per the designated priority assigned • Ensuring all work log detail and time spent reflects correctly • Ongoing training and certifications to be completed as per Personal Development Plan Education & Experience: A BSc in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, a BCom Business Information Systems (BIS) degree, or related degree • 5 years of working experience in DevOps or a similar role. • Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent • Certified AWS or Azure DevOps Engineer • Advance Networking Certification • Extension knowledge, creating automation code and the ability to take on multiple projects simultaneously. • Strong business acumen and leadership mindset with the ability to communicate and influence others Desirable Qualities: • Analytical mindset, problem- solving skills, and attention to detail. • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Passion for staying updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.
