Description Introduction The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Principal/lead Cloud Solution Architect is a senior-level member of the team responsible for providing strategic leadership and technical guidance to company's Google Cloud initiatives. The primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to ensure customer success with Cloud Solutions, acting as the subject matter expert on Google Cloud Solutions and related technologies for company, stakeholders and customers. The incumbent will be responsible for defining tasks, scope, and effort obtained during customer engagement sessions, as well as producing high-level and low-level design documents and other technical project-related artifacts. The incumbent will also be involved in the qualification and bid process for new opportunities, providing relevant technical input into the process. It is critical that the incumbent understands the customer's project objectives, cost implications, scalability and performance requirements, security and compliance requirements, and undertake detailed research to identify the optimal Google cloud solution required to deliver a correctly designed solution architecture that meets customer business requirements. As the GCP Principal Cloud Solution Architect, the incumbent will also ensure the implementation and standardization of documentation and process standards within the discipline of Cloud Solution Architects, as well as implementation and monitoring of Solution Architects quality standards. To be successful in this role, the incumbent should have a deep understanding of Google cloud technologies and extensive experience in designing and implementing large-scale cloud-based solutions. The incumbent must also have excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to manage complex projects and initiatives. Additionally, the Principal Cloud Solutions Architect must stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in cloud technologies and best practices. Main Purpose As a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Principal Cloud Solution Architect, the incumbent's role is to advise our client companies on their cloud computing strategy, including cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring. The incumbent will oversee the architecture and deployment in cloud environments and deliver hands-on, business-oriented strategic and technical consulting to our clients for cloud infrastructure, automation solutions, and solution architecture. In addition to the responsibilities of a Cloud Solution Architect, as a Google Principal Cloud Solution Architect, the incumbent will lead the presales and consulting practice and have the following primary responsibilities related to Google Cloud Cloud Strategy Development: The incumbent will develop and implement a comprehensive cloud computing strategy that aligns with the organization's overall business goals and objectives. This includes identifying opportunities for cloud-based solutions, defining cloud adoption roadmaps, and developing business cases for cloud initiatives. Cloud Solution Design and Architecture: The incumbent will provide technical leadership and oversight for the design and architecture of cloud-based solutions. This includes defining cloud solution architectures that meet the scalability, availability, security, and performance requirements of the customers, as well as ensuring the solutions are aligned with industry best practices and standards. Cloud Governance, Risk and Compliance: The incumbent will establish cloud governance frameworks that ensure the customers' cloud-based solutions are compliant with relevant regulations, policies, and standards. This includes establishing and enforcing cloud security policies, monitoring compliance, and identifying and addressing potential security risks. Cloud Technology Evaluation and Selection: The incumbent will evaluate new and emerging cloud computing technologies and make recommendations for adoption. This includes evaluating the suitability of cloud solutions for the organization's needs, assessing the performance and cost-effectiveness of cloud solutions, and making recommendations for technology selection. Cloud Migration Planning and Execution: The incumbent will develop and execute cloud migration strategies for existing applications and infrastructure. This includes identifying migration priorities, developing migration plans, and coordinating migration activities with stakeholders. Cloud Cost Optimization and Management: The incumbent will develop and implement strategies for optimizing cloud costs and managing cloud expenses. This includes identifying cost optimization opportunities, implementing cost-saving measures, and monitoring and managing cloud expenses. Cloud Skills Development and Talent Management: The incumbent will develop and implement strategies for building and managing a team of cloud computing professionals. This includes identifying skills gaps, developing training programs, and providing leadership and mentorship to team members. To be successful in this role, The incumbent should have extensive experience in cloud computing technologies and the ability to provide technical leadership and strategic guidance. The incumbent must also have excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to manage complex projects and initiatives. Architecture Customer satisfaction through feedback from clients on their level of satisfaction with the architects work in helping them achieve cloud objectives. Cloud adoption rate: Measured through the number of new cloud solutions or won opportunities by company in a given period. Solution design quality measured by number and quality of design documents produced for solutions measured against set quality standards Feedback, Solution, Design and Proposal delivery time measured by the time it takes for incumbent to deliver required artifacts Provide periodic inputs for process reviews and improvements across company, networks and cross functional teams Evaluates cloud architecture performance utilization, using vendor and other tools to make recommendation where applicable Proposals and solution that achieve cost savings, optimisation and improvements in managing cloud expenses. Delivering solution designs for customer solutions based on best practices including migrations, cloud networking and new set-ups Cloud Infrastructure & partner engagement Reviewed, analysed, and created prototype for Cloud services as proof of concepts (POCs) for GCP and other solutions within the company portfolio Proposals that contain capacity and architecture plan to create cloud environment to host migrated IaaS VMs and PaaS role instances for refactored applications and databases. Implement a structured design process for creating a hybrid or public cloud architecture Proposals and solution that achieve cost savings, optimisation and improvements in managing cloud expenses. Design frameworks for Cloud platform Implementation, Testing and Acceptance Work with third-parties and partners to propose and recommend cloud solutions for custom requirements or outsourced skill sets. Internal engagement Non-standard/complex solutions - Cross functional engagements, Sales support, Service Desk, Products, Bid Office & engagement with Engineering Feedback from KAMs, Bid Office, Products, Engineering on engagement and support on quality of submissions. Training for sales, architects, customer employees and product teams Assist with technology selection and vendor selection for product management/ideation Technical Proficiency in Cloud computing technologies and related industry trends Participation in training, certifications, and industry events Leading the architects to iterate through design steps and tasks to identify dependencies and resolving design conflicts where a design decision made. Repeating the process until all considerations are incorporated into the final architecture design.
