Our client in the Renewable Energy sector is looking for a Commercial Officer to join their team in Ottery, Cape Town. Job Purpose: The Commercial Officer assists with the implementation of sales or commercial strategies and objectives, defines the organization's commercial policies and ensures the company adheres to the annual budget. Duties include market research to identify new business opportunities and client leads, coordinating with company leadership to conduct risk assessments and maintaining beneficial relationships with clients, suppliers and other business partners. Job Requirements: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel, Word and Outlook Grade 12 with more than 5 year’s working experience as a commercial officer or similar Valid driver’s license Ability to multitask Excellent leadership qualities Strong analytical skills Team orientated, with strong relationship and interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Excellent eye for detail Problem solving skills Display good organizational skills, implement management techniques to control allocated resources The ability to work well under pressure, outside the box thinking Sound knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms Advantages: Relevant bachelor degree, B com or similar Previous working experience in a construction/renewable energy sector Commercial management expertise or training Experience in Project Management Core Functions: General Assist with managing the commercial function ensuring high quality commercial activities with maximum quality, service and profitability for the organization Effective liaison, support and assistance between commercial department and rest of organization Stakeholder Management Participate in audits Business Development Assist with developing business growth strategies to help meet organizational goals and objectives Build and nurture client relationships in order to continue winning new contracts Attend networking events and build industry connections in order to facilitate business growth Conduct market research to inform strategic business decisions Oversee branding and marketing endeavors to ensure all efforts are aligned with business goals Communicate and hold workshops with internal colleagues to understand the needs of departments and the organisation as a whole. Drive fresh initiatives for business systems. Use data modelling practices to analyse your findings and create suggestions for strategic and operational improvements/ changes, with commercial benefits. Identify the processes changes required to introduce your recommendations, alongside clear identification of risks. Solid reporting skills to allow clear and concise reporting, often to senior management and above, of findings and recommendations. Tender Management Managing Tender Invitations on various online and offline portals and company internal systems Populate customer provided tender documents and Tenders submission cover letters Calculations for customer provided tender documents Population and submission to online platforms of various customer documentation required for onboarding or as pre-requisite to become a vendor Reviewing various contracts, frame work agreements and call-off forms Meeting with customers and suppliers to discuss tender clarifications, draft contracts, etc. Managing tender documentation in a timely manner, ensuring tender deadlines will be met Managing tender awards and company order books. Contracts Management Provide commercial support in the review and negotiation of contracts and contract variations with the aim of establishing clear obligations and acceptable liabilities to safeguard the business interests. Support and assist Project Managers in execution of the Contracts to ensure adherence to the confines of those Contracts to provide early warning of any issues or risks outside of Contract scope. Managing contracts and services in accordance with company policies Preparing and negotiating the terms and conditions of contracts Preparation of various contracts Meeting with customers and suppliers to discuss business and legal matters Ensuring all contract documentation is up to date Ensuring contract compliance with the company’s policies and procedures Informing internal and external stakeholders of the status of contracts Investigating and addressing contract issues Resolving legal disputes Perform ad-hoc duties from time to time, as requested.
