Commercial Procurement Manager - South Africa

Seeking a Commercial Procurement Manager for a company based in Johannesburg. Purpose Statement To negotiate and facilitate the best possible commercial terms, including managing Suppliers, including (Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East) for quality, service, innovation and commercial advantage, in line with best commercial practices and total cost of ownership, whilst mitigating risks. The role is responsible for approximately R500-700mil per sub-category. Education (Formal Qualification Required) Minimum Degree or National diploma or equivalent NQF level 7 qualification in procurement/supply chain Advantageous MBA or equivalent/Food Technology or related Legal Requirements (e.g. Driver’s License, etc.) Driver’s license Knowledge Detail Knowledge of cost reduction initiatives (Advanced) Knowledge of supplier relationship management (SRM) (Advanced) Knowledge of relevant local legislation and regulations in relation to procurement (Intermediate) Knowledge of principles and practices of contract preparation (Intermediate) Knowledge of relevant local legislation and regulation (Intermediate) Knowledge of demand and supply planning (Intermediate) Project Life-cycle management (Intermediate)Negotiation skills (Advanced) Business case development skills (Advanced)Presentation skills (Intermediate) Numeracy skills, financial acumen (Advanced) Advanced excel and intermediate Microsoft office skills Fluent in English communications – written and verbal Experience (Minimum Experience Required) Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Procurement Manager in the Food or FMCG or Food Manufacturing or FMCG Manufacturing industries, or experience managing complex Supplier/stakeholder relationships Advantageous Experience in category management and strategic sourcing Ability to apply analytical techniques to derive value and information from data sets Position Description Strategic Management Develop, analyse and present relevant business cases Implement and report on sourcing strategies throughout the sourcing lifecycle Interface with key stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business requirements Provide category expertise and project management skills for all procurement initiatives Provide input into strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility Participate in Supplier selection and sourcing decisions through the appropriate RFQ or RFP processes Make recommendations to Management on the evaluated results of RFQs or RFPs Provide key negotiation and commercial advice to the Supply Chain Management team and Head of Commercial Interrogate pricing models, as required Drive the cost reduction process such as value analysis, engineering and standardisation Influence internal stakeholders around market trends, best practices and processes Contract Management Develop and use a standard suite of documentation relevant to the business Advise, review and negotiate commercial aspects or provisions of contracts with legal assistance ensuring minimal commercial risk is imposed, including extensions, re-negotiations and terminations of contracts Work with the legal department in developing specific and generic contract provisions and SLAs Implement standard operating procedures for all markets (commercial and procurement) to ensure Brand standards and guardianship Work with the legal department in developing generic contract provisions including extensions, re-negotiations and termination of contracts Contractor and Supplier Management Manage the escalated day-to-day Supplier operations Conduct Supplier reviews against agreed scorecards Identify BBBEE organisations and potential development opportunities for Supplier development, with the aim of ensuring purchases from these organisations Conduct Supplier selection in accordance with new BBBEE codes and ethical sourcing Execute any agreed activities which may result from the outcome of the supplier review i.e. performance management, Supplier exit etc. Develop action and contingency plans in line with the performance review Regularly update, correct, and archive all required Supplier data Stakeholder Management Manage the commercial relationship with the Master Franchisees and Franchisees Provide relevant support to Licensed Markets Master Franchisees, Franchisees and Procurement Team Manage relevant internal stakeholder relationships Market Research and General Administration Collect and analyse Supplier and Market information Perform relevant benchmarking activities Develop and assist in administering Supplier surveys Continually develop subject matter expertise in the field Perform any other administrative duties reasonably as requested by management that falls within the parameters of the role Competencies (Skills and Behavioral Attributes) Analysis and Problem-solving Complexity (Strategic Thinking) Relationship Building (Includes Teamwork) Leadership Skills (Providing feedback, coaching, motivating others) Communication (Verbal and Written) Compliance Orientation Conflict Management Creative and Innovative Thinking Customer Focus Detail and Quality Focus Stress Management/ Emotional Resilience Numerical Reasoning Initiative Learning Potential Planning and Organising Achievement Orientation and Drive Time Management Integrity Special Requirements Required to travel locally and internationally Apply Now
