Control Systems Technician - Port Elizabeth
Min Required Qualification:
Diploma in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering
Siemens PLC software, SCADA/SQL Training Certificate
Minimum 3 years relevant experience & knowledge in chemical/process industry (of which 18 months Siemens PLC software, SCADA development)
Preferred Qualification:
Degree in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering
Project Management Certificate
Required Skills and Competencies:
SQL knowledge
Automation project experience
Experience in commissioning variable speed drives
Excellent analytical, planning, organizing, verbal & written communication and reasoning skills
Works in a goal result and customer â oriented manner. Considers economic aspects (quality,Â
quantity, time, costs)
Works independently and takes full accountability for assigned tasks
Deals effectively with challenging situations and pays high attention to detail

Position Summary:
The position will support operations by maintaining, improving, troubleshooting and expandingÂ
control systems and instrumentation. Optimizing all facilities and manufacturing equipment in a safeÂ
and orderly fashion as directed by the Control Systems Specialist
This position creates value for the facility by bench-marking our current systems with industry best inÂ
class leading to increased uptime and reliability, thus helping the facility to meet production andÂ
quality goals
Provide detailed feedback on each project assigned to management as required
The position will also be expected to respond to call-out requests in support of Plant MaintenanceÂ
Technicians, deals with emergency-based failures on short notice, and perform other duties asÂ
required
Major Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
PLC and SCADA software development and commissioningÂ
Production batching system support
Software version upgrades
Configure and commission instruments and variable speed drives
Plan, design and execute control systems projects
Support Plant Maintenance Technicians with PLC, SCADA, Batch manager and VSD fault finding
Communicating effectively with the production team, communicate pertinent information to next shift
Comply with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant andÂ
corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignments
Work with and coordinate activities with contractors
