GREAT OPPORUNITY at our client in FOURWAYS/BRYANSTON An ICT organisation with Head Office in Bryanston is looking to employ a SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER in their JHB office to be the primary authority responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the newly built network infrastructure spanning three regions: Johannesburg (JHB), Cape Town (CPT), and Durban (DBN). ▪ Design, implement, and maintain the core network infrastructure across multiple regions. ▪ Serve as the escalation point for all network-related issues, providing timely resolution and troubleshooting expertise. ▪ Ensure availability on standby for network-related issues, demonstrating a commitment to promptly address any urgent network concerns that may arise outside of regular working hours. ▪ Develop and implement network security policies, protocols, and procedures to safeguard against potential threats and vulnerabilities. ▪ Optimise network performance and reliability through continuous monitoring, analysis, and proactive maintenance. ▪ Perform core-level redundancy tests every 4 – 6 months ▪ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the integration of new technologies and services into the network environment. ▪ Conduct regular network audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. ▪ Mentor and train junior network engineers to enhance their skills and capabilities within the department. ▪ Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in the field of networking. ▪ Create Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documents for any outages on the Network domain. ▪ Maintain accurate and current network diagrams and documentation to ensure a clear understanding of the network infrastructure. ▪ Prepare and finalize change control documentation, adhering to established protocols, and seeking appropriate approvals before implementing network changes MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Degree holder in IT or Software or Computer Science IP certifications: CCNA and/or JNCIA o r better ( CCIE, JNCIS-ENT/SP) 4 to 6 years of experience in Telecoms networks domain - as a Senior Network Engineer (ideal) Excellent people management skills for customer and 3rd party contractor support Well Conversant with all Telecom Service Provider Operational functions and Processes Experience working with Juniper, Cisco, Huawei hardware Proficiency in routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and switching technologies. Strong understanding of ISP-level networking principles and practices. Demonstrated expertise in network design, architecture, and implementation. Proven track record of successfully managing and troubleshooting complex network environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in programming would be advantageous.
