My client is seeking a meticulous Cost Accountant to join their team and play a pivotal role in managing their financial operations.This position is based in Johannesburg East. Duties: Establish, upload, and monitor standard costs using a comprehensive, activity-based model, collaborating closely with procurement and operations. Your responsibilities will include assessing new product costs and revising existing standards. Ensure the accurate and timely loading of new and revised bill of materials, maintaining meticulous records of all changes. Deliver weekly factory performance reports (WPE) for the current month, keeping a close eye on our operational efficiency. Review and follow up on outstanding orders, addressing any delays or issues promptly. Handle month-end accruals, cut off transactions, and reallocations, meticulously validating accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting. Take a proactive approach to managing variances on a daily basis, collaborating with the cost analyst and escalating issues to site management as needed to minimize losses. Conduct monthly reporting and validation of material variances, identifying areas for improvement and driving continuous enhancement projects. Collaborate with department heads on cost control, budgeting, and forecasting efforts, providing valuable insights and supporting revisions or simulations as required. Ensure transparency in cost structures and financial implications of major decisions impacting the factory or relevant cluster. Thoroughly investigate and analyze capital and operating expenditures, ensuring expected returns are achieved and properly documented. Maintain robust internal controls, regularly monitoring compliance with standard operating procedures, and providing support during audits and self-assessments. Actively seek out and support cost improvement opportunities, contributing to improvement projects and validating proposed savings. Reconcile and validate inventory, fixed assets, and related balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures. Participate in stock takes, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and assisting with inventory write-offs as necessary. Provide ongoing guidance and support to the cost analyst, reviewing their work and ensuring timely delivery of outputs. Job Experience and Skills Required: Completed CIMA FMCG Manufacturing industry experience will be advantageous Minimum of 3 to 4 years’ experience in a similar position Experience working on Oracle is beneficial Management experience required If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply directly.
