Purpose of the Job The employee will be responsible for accurate cost estimation of bid projects and individual flexible packaging products, developing pricing recommendations, with the objective to contribute to volume growth and profitability improvement. The employees output will assist the company (including Sales team, Commercial Excellence team, Operations and other teams) to contribute to continuous improvements and automation of costing estimation models, methodologies, databases and tools. Job Responsibilities: Develop accurate and reliable product cost estimation, properly accounting for specifications, raw materials, operational parameters and steps, freight, and other cost accuracy. Produces cost estimates in a timely fashion and compares to post-costing of similar products, historical estimates and quotes to improve costing accuracy. Work with Commercial teams and others to understand customer needs and requirements for provide insightful analyses and alternatives, aiming for improved profitability. Review and analyze tender and other documents to understand the scope, timing, requirements, terms, and other parameters of tenders. Assist with relevant tender/customer requirements and to identify areas where the company needs to counter or change terms and conditions to ensure company’s sustainable profitability and risk minimization. Assist Commercial Excellence team and/or Sales department to develop recommendations for optimized execution of bids/tenders/RFQ’s through understanding data analyses. Support on the calculations of due price adjustments in timely and consistent manner. Ensure cost estimating processes are in place and to take the coordinating leads, working closely with others in the business to provide cost estimation against production/project as required. Cost/Margin calculations, update and maintain fixed cost rates. Timeously check and validate bill of material. Adopts quickly and reliable improved costing and pricing methodologies and tool which will help to improve costing and pricing capabilities . Analysis of all manufacturing operations. Qualification and Experience: Minimum of Diploma/Degree (NQF 6) in Finance or Accounting. Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in production costing, preferable within Flexible Packaging industry. Proficiency in advance excel. Exposure to global teams and/or multiple reporting.
