Astral, a leading South African integrated poultry producer, has an exciting Assistant Buyer opportunity at County Fair, Primary Processing Plant in Fisantekraal. The purpose of the position is to assist the Head Buyer in all administrative duties, for the procurement of goods and services. The ideal candidate would be responsible for: Assisting the Head Buyer with all procurement administration Dealing with suppliers on a daily basis regarding requisition verification, gathering quotations, placing orders, follow-up on orders, gathering outstanding invoices, having invoices approved by site management and resolving supplier queries Daily and weekly reporting and clearing of requisitions and outstanding orders Working on an integrated electronic procurement system (LN System) which requires exporting of data into MS Excel, requisition verification and document attachment. Processing and vetting large volumes of documents for commitment and compliance to requirements and policy, ensuring continuous business improvement (20 Keys) Responsible for any ad-hoc tasks required by the Head Buyer and site management from time-to-time Stand-in duties for the Head Buyer, Driver and within the Purchasing department as and when required The successful candidate must meet the following requirements : Minimum Grade 12 A formal qualification in procurement would be an advantage A minimum of 3 years' experience in sourcing of goods and price negotiation Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook & MS PowerPoint) LN ERP system (or similar) Previous experience in the FMCG/Food processing and manufacturing industry will be a distinct advantage Valid driver's license and own transport essential Able to work weekends, public holidays and out of usual working hours as required
