Credit Vetting Manager - Johannesburg

My client is seeking a dynamic Credit Vetting Manager to lead their credit vetting team, uphold their rigorous standards, and drive continuous improvement in their credit processes.

This is a fully remote position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Credit Vetting Process: Oversee the entire credit vetting process, ensuring efficient and thorough evaluations.
  • Staff Management: Lead, mentor, and support the credit vetting team, providing clear direction and development opportunities.
  • Policy Formulation and Implementation: Assist in developing and consistently applying the credit vetting policy, with the discernment to make exceptions when necessary.
  • Hands-On Management: Actively manage tickets and queues, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Handle Escalations: Serve as the primary contact for escalated cases and complex queries, providing expert guidance and solutions.
  • Policy and Procedure Compliance: Implement and maintain all department-specific policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting: Generate and analyze regular reports on collections, staff performance, and departmental activities.
  • Customer Service: Maintain high standards of customer service, balancing firm policy application with empathy and understanding.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Develop and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations and support business goals.
  • Team Development: Ensure the team has the necessary skills, training, and resources to perform effectively.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Create and manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and develop strategic plans to meet organizational objectives.
  • Emergency Response: Allocate resources and direct actions in emergencies or unexpected situations, ensuring continuity and efficiency.
  • Supervision and Evaluation: Supervise staff performance, conduct evaluations, and provide feedback to foster continuous improvement.
  • Motivation and Development: Inspire and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Discipline and Dispute Resolution: Address disciplinary issues and grievances with fairness and firmness, maintaining a professional and respectful work environment.
  • Liaison and Coordination: Work closely with other departments to coordinate activities, share information, and achieve common goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualification and Skills Required:

  • Diploma or Degree in Credit Management or Finance Related
  • 5 years proven experience in credit vetting or a related field.
  • Ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using credit vetting software and tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
