Exciting opportunity for two Customs Team Leaders to join a shipping & freight logistics company with a global footprint. ABOUT OUR CLIENT Our client is a JSE listed shipping & freight logistics company with a global footprint allowing for first class cross border logistics, connecting Africa's commodities with the world. JOB SUMMARY EQ8 Recruit has been engaged to help recruit two Customs Team Leaders for our client to be based in Durban, South Africa. The successful candidates will lead team members in the coordination of movement of cargo/products out of the country in accordance with organizational policy, procedures, and legislative requirements. The Customs Team Leaders will be required to work 24-hour rotational shifts and will report directly to the Business Unit Manager. THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT In order to be shortlisted for this role, you have the following skills and experience, but not limited to:- Matric 2-year Customs related qualification at NQF level 3 Computer Literacy A minimum of 5 years import/customs experience in the Clearing and Forwarding Industry of which at least 3 years in a Customs framing entry capacity (including cross border, bonded cargo clearances) Practical Experience of Cross Border Customs Clearance processes a prerequisite Ability to frame Customs Import and Export documents on Shipshape Knowledge of all relevant Acts JOB DESCRIPTION The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:- Lead team members in the coordination of movement of cargo / products out of the country in accordance with organizational policy, procedures, and legislative requirements Process Customs Clearances (Road / Rail, Sea /Imports / Exports / RIB / RIT) and Ex-bond Entries (XDP / XIB / XE) Enable effective management of GLA Road Bond and Acquittals within your team Ensure accuracy of information captured in your teams, within the prescribed timelines Perform verification and quality checks (QA) on all customs entries and required documentation received within your team Schedule workload planning for team members and monitor team performance Create a work environment where team members can reach their full potential Keep Principals updated daily and ensure deadlines are met Liaise with all Service Providers, Principals and Transporters on an ongoing basis Comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System and Standard Operating Procedures Ensure team functions are as mandated by the Operations Manager and / or instruction from relevant managers and regulatory authorities Identify employee’s developmental areas and assist with personnel PDPs Ensure that all processes and procedures are adhered to and assist where possible Address customs compliance related matters within the team based on instruction and/or reports from the Customs & Compliance team within prescribed deadlines Please be advised that only shortlisted candidates that have the specific skills and experiences required to fulfill the responsibilities of the role will be contacted for a telephone interview by one of our consultants.
