The U.S. Embassy in Pretoria is seeking elligible and qualified applicants for a position of Deputy Associate Director for Operations in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Incumbent oversees the day-to-day management, administrative, financial and program coordination functions in support of a broad range of agency-funded HIV/AIDS, Global Health Security, and Influenza program activities that are implemented by specific program offices, branches, or programmatic teams. This is done through direct supervision and management oversight of a team of administrative and logistics specialist staff. The work portfolio includes administrative support, program support, training development, human resources, procurement, information management, and logistics. Incumbent is supervised by the Associate Director for Management and Operations (ADMO). Position directly supervises 3 employees; and indirectly supervises up to an additional 20 positions in the Country Business Office (CBO). Education: Master's degree or host country equivalent in public administration, business administration, management, finance, public health or health policy is required. Prior Work Experience: Five years demonstrated progressively responsible administrative management work experience is required. Two years of experience at the managerial level that includes direct supervision of staff. Job Knowledge: Job holder must have the courtesy and professionalism to interact with U.S. Mission personal in various offices, levels of organization and officials within the Government of SA and U.S. Mission. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required, to include ability to write clear and concise documents, reports, program and policy guidelines and ability to deliver oral presentations on supportive administrative matters. Language Proficiency: Fluent; speaking/reading/writing of English. This may be tested Skills and Abilities: Ability to assess problems and develop realistic solutions (how to plan for and administer available resources of funds, personnel and equipment in the best interest of CDC Country Platform program objectives) is required. Basic Salary: R 1,144,114 – R 1,601,747 per annum Cash Benefits: R 168,688 – R 206,825 per annum (Misc Benefit Allowance & 13th cheque) Final salary is based upon a variety of factors Other benefits include the following: The U.S. Embassy contributes 70% of employees Medical Aid (Discovery Medical Aid) Annual leave is 17 days which increases with years of service Employees qualify for SA and USA public holidays.
