Position: Diesel Mechanic (Yellow Machinery) Location: Pomona Kempton Park Job Type: Full-time Responsibilities: Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on diesel-powered vehicles, including trucks and heavy equipment, yellow machinery, generators. Conduct inspections to identify and address mechanical issues promptly. Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel engines. Carry out repairs and replacements of faulty parts with a focus on minimising downtime. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure the longevity of vehicles and equipment. Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs. Safety Compliance: Ensure that all vehicles and equipment comply with safety regulations and standards. Conduct safety inspections and implement necessary adjustments. Collaboration: Coordinate with other maintenance and operational teams to optimise workflow. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repair status and recommendations. Inventory Management: Manage inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring availability for repairs and maintenance. Coordinate with procurement to order necessary parts in a timely manner. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably in a heavy equipment or transportation setting. Knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Physical stamina and agility to handle the demands of the job.
