Our client, a mining and construction services company with operations nationally, is currently seeking to appoint a Drill Rig Mechanic to join their established team in Meyerton, Johannesburg. Applicants must be willing and able to travel to various sites, work remotely for extended period of time, and to work overtime as required. Main duties will include, but are not limited to: Pro-actively maintain equipment required for the safe execution of operational activities. Perform first-line maintenance tasks on drill rigs. Diagnosis, troubleshooting, fault finding, and repair as expected from an experienced artisan, and participation in HIRAs. Maintaining and troubleshooting the entire systems on DTH and TOP HAMMER drill rigs. (This includes engine, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, feed systems and GET handling functions) Develop learners in the trade. Remove and install sub-assemblies damaged or replace where necessary Attending breakdowns and complete job / timecards. Maintain company tools and equipment ensuring all is in good and safe working order. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor / manager. Travel to various sites and work overtime as required. Work remotely for extended periods of time. Minimum Qualifications / Experience Matric RED SEAL Trade Certificate as a Diesel Mechanic At least 5 years' experience as a Drill Rig Mechanic on surface drilling equipment. Knowledge of tools and lubrication processes Read, interpret and action feedback on oil analysis reports. Valid driver's license and own vehicle Perform effective Oil sampling. Knowledge of CAT engine systems. Ability to troubleshoot engine, transmission, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues. Analytical thinker with auto-electrical and mechanical aptitude Skills in repair and maintenance of heavy equipment and diesel engines
