Electrical Component Engineer
Uitenhage – Eastern Cape
Our client in the automotive industry requires qualified & experienced Electrical Component Engineer to ensure the company products are engineered to local market requirements by designing, developing, testing and introducing locally manufactured components, by adapting and developing sourced designs to be compatible with local environmental conditions and by issuing technical data in line with the correct component engineering level to meet the following criteria:
- Products are built problem free
- Local requirements in terms of local content are met
- Unique product features
- Safety and reliability in service
- Discontinued models but still required in South Africa
- Adhering to the required Product Emergence Process manual.
Duties
- The resolution of design related problems on all locally manufactured platforms
- The release of Electrical components for vehicles
- Co-ordination of testing and release of components and system, locally and at source
- Maintaining and updating the BOM system
- Problem analysis
- Maintaining and updating the bill of materials system
- Cost analysis of various components, systems and projects
- Cost saving initiation and investigations
- Project management on new or changed systems and components
Qualification requirements
Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or National Diploma (Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering)
Minimum of 5years design and development experience in an automotive components for volume production
Good communication skills
Problem resolution capability
Project management capability
Good interpersonal skills (team and negotiating skills)
Ability to lead and operate within a team
Excellent report writing and presentation skills
High degree of computer literacy (MS Office package, CAD)
Ability to work and complete tasks without supervision
Ability to apply preventative and corrective tools and methods during the development process
High level of understanding of technical/engineering concepts and design
