The Department: Maintenance team We are focused on the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of all DigiOutsource's physical assets and equipment. Our professional team of electricians, repair people and general workers help develop, operate, maintain, and manage the high-quality facilities that form part of the Digi Campus. These assets include equipment such as the HVAC, office furniture, general appliances, generators, and buildings. Purpose of the Role: We are looking for a self-motivated and energetic individual to join our Facilities team. Reporting to the Technical maintenance Manager, this role performs a wide range of duties which include inspecting, testing, repairing, installing and modifying electrical components and systems as well as standby duties and is not limited to the following: Duties include, but not limited to: Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Isolating and following SANS10142 to comply and safe working standards. Isolate and test for other maintenance members to work on under guidance. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment. Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications. Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets. Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects. Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services. Aid during emergencies by operating generators, etc. Documentation, maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, installations, and inspections. Keep an inventory of electrical equipment and supplies. Team collaboration work closely with other maintenance and facilities staff to coordinate activities and contribute well to well-functioning facility. Training, stay updated on industry best practices, electrical codes and new technology through continuous learning and training. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Essential Criteria: Relevant qualification and trade test Demonstrated competence in the inspection, testing and commissioning of installations. Demonstrates consistent behavior aligned to the Organizational Culture Practical, productive, and electrical engineering skills to carry out electrical installation work without supervision. Own transportation. Proficient in Microsoft office. Ability to adapt to new software and technologies. Desirable Criteria: Aircon maintenance Refrigeration maintenance Installation rules.
