Ensure that all plant, equipment and activities comply to occupational health & safety regulations and procedures
Role: Electrician
Location: REPORTS TO: QUALIFICATIONS:- Electrical Trade Certificate (Red Seal)
- Knowledge of PLC systems fault -finding & programming
- Knowledge of hot glue application systems
EXPERIENCE:- 3- 5 working experience FMCG
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:- Safe equipment operation on all electrical equipment. Safety Regulations and Standards to be followed
- Ensure correct lock-out procedure is followed
- Effective Electrical Planned Preventative Maintenance to ensure a 100% Plant availability
- New electrical installations must be conducted in accordance with SANS 01042.
- Maintenance and fault finding on existing electrical equipment / panels
- Ensures that the Company and Legislative procedures are always adhered to
- Assist with repairs to production equipment
- Execute tasks as per Job Cards
- Replace Rotary Die Cutters
- Replace mechanical drive components as may be required.
- Carry out fault-finding and repairs on mechanical components
- Replace rollers and bearings when required
- Any additional maintenance tasks as required
- Always implement and comply with all relevant Health & Safety procedures and requirements
- Provide support to production personnel in achieving operational daily and monthly targets.
- Carry out all reasonable instruction for Engineering management and or supervision.
- Keep the working environment free from hazards and check that all equipment is in good working order. Identify and report potential hazards in line with standard operating procedures
- Good housekeeping practices are applied, the production area is clean and tidy at all times and compliance is ensured i.e. clean as you go
- Adhere to all relevant SOPs
- Ensure that All mandatory safety inspections are conducted, in accordance with the requirements of the OSH Act (Act 85 of 1993) and regulations.
- Ensure that all electrical DBs and enclosures are inspected and maintained in accordance with OSH Act (Act 85 of 1993) and Regulations.
- Conduct factory lighting inspections and repairs to all lights as may be required.
Planned Maintenance:- Carry out daily machine running inspections, identify possible component failure and report.
- Carry out planned maintenance as per schedules provided.
- Review schedules and recommend alterations and or improvements to schedules as may be required.
- Ensure that all lubrication of all rolling elements is done in accordance with good maintenance practices.
- If any defects are detected during maintenance tasks, ensure that repairs are done to good maintenance practices. No "quick fixes".
IMPACT OF ERRORS ON BUSINESS:- Loss of production due to machine down time
- Increased Health & Safety Risk
- Closure of business due to non-compliance to legislation
LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING:- Stop a line from operating if experiencing electrical issues and or safety risk.
