Join our dynamic Client in the energy industry as an Energy Data Analyst, based in Bellville, Cape Town. The purpose of the Analyst is to process, analyse and report on energy and technical data to deliver reporting services for the company. The Analyst is expected to use existing tools and models for this reporting, as well as to optimise models where required and perform ad hoc analyses. The analyst will be required to communicate results and deal with queries directly from clients. It would be advantageous to have experience in the energy management and data analytics field. Handle all aspects of the Utilities Management Program reporting and analysis for a client, including Using existing Power BI, Excel, BigQuery and other tools for data cleaning, report generation and analysis Finding data quality issues, trends, actionable insights and project opportunities within the data Peer reviews of reporting and analyses Ad-hoc analysis across a broad range of data and topics (e.g., energy and water profiles, billing and tariffs, baselines and benchmarks, temperatures, intensities, budgeting, estimating and forecasting consumptions/costs etc.) Maintaining and optimising existing tools and models Research and investigations into client-relevant topics (e.g., security of supply, load shedding, droughts, new technologies, ESG/CSR/Carbon/funding etc.) Effective Program facilitation and communication, including Co-ordinating client meetings (e.g., agenda, minutes, slides) Co-ordinating with other teams / contractors (e.g., Power Factor correction contractors, Power/Refrigeration projects, Billing & Tariff projects, Metering projects) Responding to client emails/calls Driving the Utilities Management Program for the client Work closely with other EI Data Analysts, including management of juniors and peer-reviews Bachelor's degree in an engineering or similar discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, statistics etc.) At least 2 years of relevant work experience in data analysis or related field A passion for data analysis and BI visualisations Proficient in working with multiple datasets from different sources with a strong understanding of how to leverage existing tools and methods to solve data-related problems Skilled at data cleaning, aggregation, and the automation of repetitive data processing pipelines using software tools Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel Experience with using BI tools and SQL basics Demonstrated understanding of data processing principles, data warehousing, cleaning, ETL and building scalable models and data pipelines Skilled at reporting, data visualisation and explaining insights gained to non-technical clients Ability to work within tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment Strong logical and systematic thinking with an eye for finding insights and solutions within data Attention to detail with high level of accuracy and quality assurance Beneficial Experience with large datasets Experience in working with databases and Google BigQuery Experience with using software for data processing (e.g., Python, R, Matlab) Experience with development of BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) Understanding of electrical concepts and drawings Exposure to the Energy Management industry Project/Program Management experience Management experience of a small team
