Reference: EST000022-OR-1 We have an open vacancy for a Engineering Stores buyer to join the team at our manufacturing plant in Estcourt Kwazulu Natal. The purpose of the job will be: To reduce the costs of holding stock, while ensuring you can meet customer demand and making sure that there is enough stock for engineering department. To ensure that Business always have a 'safe' amount of stock so that they're able to react and cover any unforeseen issues. The position will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager QUALIFICATIONS Grade 12 with Mathematics preferably EXPERIENCE 2-3 years' experience within a production environment Previous experience in buying will be an advantage KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Attention to details SKILLS REQUIRED Good communication and negotiation and buying skills. MAIN DUTIES Buying and controlling of stock for minimum and maximum stock levels. Ensure to take lead time into consideration when ordering both local and imported spares. To manage subordinates on a daily basis to ensure all tasks are fulfilled according to the procedures To analyse the requisitions from the supervisor to clarify that the orders are in fact needing to be placed. Working closely alongside the Stores supervisor to ensure that there is enough stock in stores at all times according to lead times and usages. To report any urgent issues regarding stock levels and supply issues, stores staff issues directly to the General Manager Ensuring that the staff are following the FIFO rotation in a regular basis To be totally aware of the usages of each item, the supplier of the item and the lead time by the use of the Meat Matrix system and the various stock reports developed by the buyer To meet with suppliers and management on a regular basis to resolve issues, discuss usage trends etc To assist and guide the team to resolve stock fault issues and revert to supplier for corrective action and ensuring the maintenance team have sufficient stock in the interim To have good negotiating skills in the need of new stock To oversee and manage the stock take process on a monthly basis To keep a good communication path between stores and maintenance and stores and management To ensure that all staff member follow the procedures, SOP's and health and safety rules at all times To be prepared to work flexible hours including overtime when necessary Have people handlings skills, a team player and ability to instil discipline where necessary Proficient use of email and computer Being able to work under pressure and efficiently Need to be well mannered and able to engage with customers, suppliers, management and staff alike. Keeping the team up to date and participating in the Goal alignment and quantum lean Over and above this your job title is not restricted to the above duties and at times you may be required to undertake other work within your abilities at the request of the company Ability to report on KPA's
