Enterprise & Supplier Development Manager - Durban
The Enterprise and Supplier Development Manager (ESD) is responsible for overseeing the growth and development of the ESD element of the B-BBEE Scorecard. The person will work closely with the group Procurement team (South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Botswana) to ensure the supplier base is grown in line with the Procurement and Localisation Policies. The person will be responsible for the set-up and running of Ithuba Centres, based in Tongaat, Amatikulu, Refinery area, and Felixton. The ESD Manager is responsible for all external control related matters for THL including document collection for the B-BBEE audit, stakeholder relationships, and risk reduction.
Roles and Responsibilities
Ithuba (CSI) Centres
- This role will ensure the centres are implemented and operational, within budget.
- Monitor centre statistics monthly, ensuring the chosen service provider is adhering to contract conditions.
- The strategic goal of the program will be to create a local social and economic ecosystem, i.e. capacitate, coordinate, and facilitate local SMMEs and job seekers link to economic opportunities in local businesses.
- Review the audit findings, recommendations, and managements comments.
- Identify synergies across the sites and standardise solutions for business processes.
- Facilitate empowered local communities, sharing economic opportunities arising from TH business, its value chain partners, and local businesses.
- Create a mutually beneficial co-existential, mutually supportive stakeholder relationship.
- Reduce Executive time demands taken up by demands for enabling localisation and ongoing support of social stakeholders in Enterprise and Supplier Development.
- Issue quarterly executive summaries to the functional leadership team.
Localisation and Supplier Development
- Work closely with Stakeholder Engagement Executive to proactively reduce community grievances.
- Maintain a relationship with local business key stakeholders.
- Align THL and THS SA Operations to Localisation Policy.
Enterprise & Supplier Development
- Proactive role within the Procurement operations to find Enterprise and Supplier Development Opportunities.
- To conduct training on Supplier Development policies and procedures to drive compliance within the Tongaat Hulett Limited Group.
- Conduct analysis to support opportunity identification for SD program and BBBEE transactions with strategic suppliers
- Conduct research to support the development of the BBBEE and ESD strategies, processes, policies, and procedures aligned to THL CSI and Procurement strategies and government legislations.
- Mentor and support Enterprise and Supplier Development Beneficiaries. Support identified suppliers who require assistance in compliance, quality, or service delivery.
- Set, measure and report Enterprise & Supplier Development targets delivery.
- Support commodity-specific initiatives in respect of BBBEE and ESD Programme.
- To liaise at all levels with the procurement community across Tongaat Hulett Limited to ensure that there are consistent implementations, monitoring, and reporting on Supplier Development opportunities and targets.
- Track Supplier Development strategy and policy implementation across Tongaat Hulett Limited Group
- Gather information and compile reports on SD activities across Tongaat Hulett Limited group
- Collate success stories and learnings on supplier development
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant Bachelors Degree
- 5 to 8 years experience in Supplier Development working with Community Stakeholders/Business Forums
- Business experience
- Procurement Management
- Computer skills/literacy
- A valid drivers license
- B-BBEE Codes familiarity
- Policy and Memo development
