Description Our client is in search of a seasoned Environmental Consultant to join their team. In the Environmental Services Division, the chosen candidate will take on a key role, providing expert advice and guidance on environmental matters to clients, primarily within the mining industry. The successful applicant will be tasked with a wide array of environmental consulting duties, including conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), processing Integrated Waste Management and Use of Land (IWUL) applications, performing environmental audits and compliance monitoring, assessing environmental impacts, conducting risk assessments, devising mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and policies. The position will be based in Ballito, KZN; however, remote work will be considered with bi-weekly visits to the Ballito offices. Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science or similar. Post graduate degree in Environmental Management is beneficial. Minimum 8 years’ experience within the Environmental Consulting Sector. Proven experience and a good understanding of environmental authorisation processes. Experience in managing projects and budgets. Proficient in MS Office, including MS Excel & MS Word. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Professional registration (EAPASA, SACNASP) Knowledge of GIS systems and modelling software (Global Mapper) is beneficial. Duties: Take responsibility to initiate and complete environmental and social legislative processes to obtain relevant authorisations (Environmental Impact Assessments, Water Use Licencing, Waste Management Licences, etc.) Work in close collaboration with environmental specialists from other disciplines. Compile and write the required reports and other supporting documents for submission to our clients and relevant authorities. Conducting environmental compliance auditing Serving as an Environmental Control Officer. Undertaking site visits. Client liaison. Undertake Public Participation Processes. Mentoring and guiding junior environmental scientists. Implementing GIS and mapping. Reporting progress on deliverables in accordance with project schedules; and Assisting with project management functions, including developing project schedules, invoicing, budget management, and proposal development.
