Description: RPO Recruitment's client, a highly reputable building and civil contractor in Gauteng, is currently seeking a qualified Estimator to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg as soon as possible. Requirements:National Diploma in Building or BTech in Civil/Quantity Surveying/Construction Management or similarBetween 6 and 10 years’ experience working as an Estimator in the construction industryA solid grounding in Building and Civil Engineering practicesA solid understanding of buildability, resourcing required and programmingFamiliar with standard conditions of contract for building and civil engineering works such as JBCC, FIDIC, NEC3, etc.Aware of the importance of specifications being adhered to in the pricing and submission of tendersFamiliar with standard methods of measurement for building and civil engineering worksConversant with Bills of Quantities for the construction industryBe able to read and understand drawings from the consultants, such as architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.Aware of labour and plant production figures, average waste factors, etc.Be aware of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality issues, in practical and costing termsBe aware of site conditions for workingBe aware of dealing with the local community and any costs that this may entailMust be conversant with CCS “Candy” Construction SoftwareMust be conversant with MS Office Suite, in particular Excel and WordExtract materials from BOQ / drawings and compile for the buying department in order to send out enquiries to the supply chainExtract subcontract packages from BOQ/drawings and compile for tender buying to send out to the supply chainHave a good working knowledge of building up worksheet rates for Direct Works such as Concrete, Formwork and Brickwork and Plasterwork.
