Our manufacturing client based in Durban is looking for a Factory Manager to join their team. Duties and responsibilities will include, but shall not be limited to: Responsible for the day-to-day management of all factory operations for Concord, including materials management, logistics, production, assembly and maintenance. Plan, implement and control the production schedule while ensuring that production stays on schedule and within budget. Ensures all delivery commitments and production targets are met. Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for production operations and ensure that the standard operating procedures are adhered to. Implement maintenance plan and ensure maintenance is carried out regularly. Write production reports, prepare stats and production reports and where required attend Board Meetings. Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between all departments within the factory including Sales, R&D, Procurement, Finance, Production, Logistics and management. Total productive maintenance (TPM) and continuous improvement in production output and efficiencies, creating flow charts, standard work instructions, visual controls, reduce bottlenecks, balance lines etc. Responsible for all material management, including procurement, storage, control and distribution of materials and products to meet Company objectives and customer requirements. Provide reporting on a monthly basis on procurement savings, initiatives and variations between agreed item prices vs order item prices. Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse and transportation. Implementing and reporting of targets and KPI's on all departments to assess performance and implement improvements. Responsible to staff all factory areas correctly and ensure employees work efficiently. Ensure a high-quality standard is maintained in the factory. Implement, maintain and improve quality and process requirements. Supervise, coach and train workforce. Create and maintain a positive team spirit. Ensure Health and Safety, quality and environmental compliance. Responsible for initiating and enforcing discipline, company systems, procedures and policies. Work within the structure of the company's EE/SDL plan to ensure that a solid long term internal succession plan is in place within each department. Assist with the factory implementation of new product development and innovation. Drive cost saving initiatives to achieve budget and improve profitability. Any other functions or project work your manager may require you to perform or assist with from time to time. Relevant tertiary qualification in Product Management/Operations Management/General Management advantageous. Proven experience in a technical manufacturing environment. Previous experience in using ISO 9001 as an active quality management system. Sound working knowledge of OSHAC and basic conditions of employment.
