Feed Mill Manager (Zimbabwe) - South Africa

Role's Purpose:
The General Manager of a feed mill oversees all operations within the facility, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality animal feed. This role involves managing staff, optimizing production processes, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and driving the financial performance of the feed mill.

Experience & Qualification Criteria:
  • Bachelors degree in animal science, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in feed mill management or a related industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of feed production processes and quality control.
  • Financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements in the feed industry.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Primary Responsibilities:


Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily feed mill operations, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met.
  • Implement and monitor production schedules to meet customer demands.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Optimize production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the feed mill.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyzing variances, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee cost control measures and manage resources efficiently.
  • Prepare financial reports for senior management.
Staff Management:
  • Recruit, train, and manage feed mill staff, ensuring a high level of performance and compliance with company policies.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and coaching to staff.
  • Foster a positive and safe working environment.
Quality Control:
  • Ensure all feed products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain quality control systems and procedures.
  • Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement safety training programs.
  • Ensure the feed mill meets all environmental and regulatory standards.
Customer Relationship Management:
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Address any customer complaints or issues promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand market needs and trends.
Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive the growth and profitability of the feed mill.
  • Monitor industry trends and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Identify new business opportunities and areas for improvement.
