Description Position: Concession Field Assistant Location: Kruger National Park The Field Assistant provides a service to the lodge(s), which in effect is the department's "customer". The Field Assistant is fully responsible for assisting the Concession Manager and/or Head Guide on the concession. This position will report to the Concession Manager. The main purpose of the Concession Field Assistant is to ensure detection and reporting of any potential security incursions, and the upkeep of the environment. Land Cruiser, First Aid Kit and related equipment are to be well-maintained and always cared for. Key Responsibilities: Radio in tracks & Sightings of high priority game e.g. Big 5 plus Wild dog & Cheetah on the Game Drive channel. Every road on the concession must be checked once a cycle (every 21 days) as a minimum. Check rainfall at the 5 Rain gauges and WhatsApp it to the Concession Manager, Head Guide, and Assistant Head Guide. The concession vehicle will be washed and parked in its designated parking. Skills & Experience: An ability to communicate clearly and execute instructions. Be always available either on WhatsApp or Radio. Chainsaw and brush cutter operation. Tracking abilities; Tracks & Signs qualification, Basic Tailing qualification and Man tracking qualification. Ability to use compass/GPS to accurately report in direction of shots heard/fired (covered in Main tracking qualification). No criminal record. Valid SAPS clearance. Honest and Trustworthy (willing to agree to regular Integrity/Polygraph testing if the Company or SANParks requires it). A basic knowledge of Water pumps and pipes. A security and/or NQF 2 guiding qualification would be an added advantage. Ability to drive and operate a tractor and all its attachments is advantageous. Computer Literacy.
