Field Service Engineer - PLC Controls (Port Elizabeth) - Clarendon Marine

CLOSING DATE 06 APRIL 2024 NOV South Africa is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer within NOV's Rig Aftermarket (RA) team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of NOV Rig Equipment globally both offshore and onshore. As part of our Aftermarket Service group, you will make recommendations to customers which ensures equipment continuously operates at efficient and profitable levels. You will support products ranging from Rig Floor Equipment (RFE), Legacy National Equipment (NOI), Pressure Control Equipment (PCE) and Cranes (M&C). As a Field Service Engineer within NOV RA, you will be homebased within South Africa and be expected to travel globally on an ad-hoc basis. You will receive training on NOV product lines and gain on the job training accompanied by experienced NOV Field Service Engineers. Key to this role and your development will be your participation in the NOV Global Competency Program. Your existing experience will ideally be within the heavy engineering and/or industry, where you have been responsible for the maintenance and servicing of equipment. Duties and Responsibilities Service, repair, overhaul, inspect and identify faults on NOV Rig Equipment on a global basis. Support I&C projects as required. Make recommendations on improving product and systems efficiency, maintaining continuous and high levels of operation. Report and update relevant documentation including daily reports, survey reports, parts lists and service reports. Read and interpret engineering drawings/schematics to identify and correct faults, redline drawings/schematics. Collaborate with key stakeholders including Customers, Colleagues and other NOV entities. Escalate key faults or product failures to relevant department and progress through to resolution. Maintain effective communication with customers giving regular status update reports. Inspects NPV equipment for conformance with operational standards Respond to emergency calls for Rig Down situations when required Qualifications: Time served Engineer. Higher National Certificate (HNC) in a relevant engineering qualification (Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics etc.) or equivalent. Skills and Experience: Minimum 5 years of current experience working with Siemens PLC platforms Step 7, WinCC and TIA Portal Working knowledge of programming, installation, commissioning, fault finding and repair of heavy machinery in an automation field. Competency in programming of PLC/HMI code -STL and FBD. Industrial Networking - Ethernet IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc. Experience working on drives. ABB preferred. Working knowledge within a similar position either offshore or in an automation field Ability to interpret engineering drawings/schematics. Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office - Excel, Word and Outlook). Experience in a lead role is preferred. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Working experience of hydraulics/pneumatics is beneficial. Apply Now
