Established large NPO organisation seeks a senior finance leader to fill the role of Finance Director. This role takes ownership of the entire finance, auditing, accounting and operational portfolio of this national organization both strategic as well as within the organization. My client is looking for a senior finance professional, with a proven track record of strategic finance input and operating at an Exco level as well has having had experience in the donor / grant funding space.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic, leadership and vision to achieve the organization's goals according to strategy
- Contribution to implementation and development of strategic and transformation plans
- Execute fiduciary responsibilities, ensure compliance with funder and statutory regulations
- Financial advice and support to the board and Executive Director and the management team
- Drive and develop financial and operational strategies
- Management and leadership of the finance team
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures as required
- Ensure statutory regulations are met as required
- Authorisation of payments and transactions according to the approved delegation of authority
- Chair financial management meetings
- Prepare financial reports and presentations, provide secretarial function to Finance, Audit, Risk and IT Board Committee
- Oversee BBEEE verification process for the organization
- Ensure a financial sound and sustainable finance team is led and managed
- Develop tools as required to provide essential financial and operational information to the Executive Director and make recommendations
- Facilitate and develop ongoing risk management function
- Support to Executive Director and Grant Managers in all negotiations with lenders, donors etc.
- Ensure sound and strong accounting systems and accounting principles are in place and adhered to
- Develop financial forecasts and business plans
- Annual audit plan preparation as required
- Manage IT and CRM platform for the finance function
- Ensure donor funds and grants are managed in line with donor requirements
- Engage audit and risk committee and develop financial projections
- Manage grant allocations, ensure they are well managed, dispersed and reported on as required and manage grant budget development
- Monthly and annual financial management reports for the organization
Requirements:
- Minimum of CA(SA) qualified
- Minimum of 8 years senior finance management experience
- Must have experience overseeing the financial management of a mid to large sized organization, with a preference to candidates who have experience in the NPO / Funded space
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Strong leadership and senior finance strategic ability and track record
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal in English and Afrikaans, ideally an additional South African language
- Proven track record of team management and leadership
- Strategic thinker and decisive decision maker
- Highly analytical and strategic thinker
