Financial Accountant - South Africa
Our client, a well-known fruit packaging company in the Overberg is seeking to employ an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team. Responsibilities & Duties Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the finance department Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements Maintains the general ledger Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts Assessing, capturing of information onto the relevant accounting programmes Reporting, feedback, record keeping of reports and administrative support Implementation & maintaining of relevant audit programs & verifications Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner Analysing data collected in order to determine the state of the company’s financial health Analysing data to understand where the company is generating and losing revenue Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform various audits Files required tax forms with relevant authorities Performs other related duties as assigned Skills and Competencies required Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills Meticulous Computer literate – MS Word, Excel, Pastel & Sage Accounting Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation Experience in the fields of accounting or finance & audit Computer – Reports – Admin intensive Minimum qualifications and Experience BCom or equivalent qualification Completed SAICA/SAIPA articles will be beneficial 5-7 years relevant experience in finance and related services Experience in agriculture related industries will be beneficial If you feel you meet the core criteria, kindly apply online.
