Financial Accountant - Stellenbosch
The largest specialized fresh produce cold storage operator in the country, which is part of a larger and integrated group, is looking to employ and financial accountant to their offices in Stellenbosch. The ideal candidate must have an accounting qualification and at least 4 years experience in an accounting and finance role, preferably with post articles experience in a commerce-related role or within practice overseeing a portfolio of clients and performing an outsourced accounting and finance function. Completed SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA articles will be a distinct advantage and knowledge of ERP systems (Navision, Business Central, or similar) will be a positive. Industry experience in agriculture, farming, citrus, fruit, export, or related will also be an advantage, though not a pre-requisite. As this is a relatively new subsidiary in this group, we are looking for a resilient self-starter. Someone that is not scared to roll up their sleeves and do the groundwork, accounting, system implementations, automation, system improvements, etc. This is an excellent opportunity for personal growth as well as growth within this expanding business. Duties and Responsibilities: Monthly accounting processing cashbooks to trial balance, general ledgers maintenance, and monthly journals for entities within the group. Full debtors function from processing, journals, payment allocations, and reconciliations. Full creditors function – processing bills, reconciliations, and preparation of weekly payment schedules. Reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts. Inter-company invoicing and loan schedule preparation. Ensure weekly deadlines are met and entries are accurately and timeously captured in the general ledger. Assist with the compilation of monthly management accounts. Preparation of weekly reports. Timely preparation, review and submissions of VAT, PAYE calculations, reconciliations and payments. Maintain fixed asset register. Prepare supporting schedules for audit and address audit queries. Any other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Financial Manager. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or similar. Completed SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA articles preferred. PA(SA), CA(SA), AGA(SA) or CIMA designation highly advantageous. Minimum year post article experience. Advanced Excel with knowledge of financial modeling, pivot tables, finance formulas, etc. ERP Accounting systems experience is a plus, particularly Navision or Business Central. Agriculture or Citrus industry experience is beneficial. Additional attributes: Excellent administrative skills. Able to work independently, understand pressure and meet deadlines. Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong financial acumen and excellent time management skills. Results-driven with strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, proficient in presentation of information to others. A creative and innovative thinker. Remuneration: R360,000 to R600,000 pa cost to company, depending on experience.
