Financial Accountant

The accountant’s responsibilities include various corporate accounting functions mainly focusing on debtor management, cashbook processing and assisting with general accounting functions, reconciliations and statutory returns for the group of companies. The accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Corporate Accounting Functions for the Group

Oversee all accounting functions:
Ensure daily cashbook reconciliations are up to date.
Update Fixed Asset Register on a monthly basis.
Review Debtors and Creditors accounts.
Capture correct journal entries in accounting records for reporting purposes. (AFS).
Review monthly recons and accounting files:
Prepare/Review trial balance for monthly reporting.
Balance intercompany loan accounts.
Review debtor and creditor age analysis.
Consolidation of six company’s ledgers for reporting purposes.

Controls and statutory Requirements:

Ensure compliance to all Statutory requirements:
- Income TAX and Provisional TAX.
- VAT
- Employment Taxes (EMP201 to SARS, UI19 to UIF)
- Dividend withholding taxes
- Submission of AFS to FSCA
- Up to date Tax Clearance Certificates
- Tax registration of new employees
- PI and D&O liability

Reporting:

Prepare annual budget for approval by the CFO
Monthly update of budget/forecast.
Reporting of monthly variances between actual and forecasted income and expenses.
Facilitate annual financial audit and ensure the group of companies receives an unmodified audit report.

Expenses/Suppliers Cycle:

Ensure timeous payment of suppliers.
Ensure payment are made into verified bank accounts.
Ensure all invoices are authorised before submission for payment.
Monitor expenses against budget.

Other:

Load daily client CCM payments.
Various statutory returns (CIPC, Compensation commissioner, BEE)
Any additional tasks as needed to support the finance team and the broader business.
