Our client, a well-established company in the manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Financial Controller to join their team in Nigel. This person oversees all processes related to accounting, closing the books, financial reporting, management reporting, filing local statutory reporting, supporting internal and external audit. This position is responsible for the managing activities related to development and maintenance of the costing system, including analysis of real costs. Incumbent is responsible for evaluating enterprise results in terms of costs, budgets and trends. This person supervises the consolidation of results and reports the results to the US division. This person is responsible for implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures as defined by the company, the Global Irrigation Division and locally, as required. Working with the General Manager at this location, the incumbent is responsible for the internal control environment and ensuring appropriate controls are functioning at all times. The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing filing of all local requirements including Fiscal Agency reporting for VAT, income tax reporting and other statutory reporting. This person partners with the General Manager of South Africa to drive the business forward according to the strategy and objectives of the business. This position is also responsible for the Human Resources function of all employees in the Company.ResponsibilitiesPrimary Functions:Oversee finance and accounting for the South Africa facilityPartner with GM to drive business and oversee control environment and reporting resultsSupport Strategic Planning Process and develop Annual Operating Plan Finance and Accounting Responsibilities:Develop and maintain standard costs, review variancesProvide necessary information for analyzing sales marginsEnsure accurate and timely financial reporting to US divisionImplement and maintain Policies and ProceduresOversee local treasury functions and banking relationshipsWork with Internal Audit annually for maintaining and testing COSO documentationEnsure execution of annual external auditEnsure compliance with local reporting and tax requirements Management Responsibilities:Mentor, develop, and evaluate staff performance Essential Functions:Lead using the company's values, including active participation in kaizen events and Lean problem solvingCommit to the company's Mission and address safety issuesDevelop knowledge of the company's products and processesPartner with other areas to support business goals Supervisory Responsibilities:Set objectives and monitor performanceSelect, train, and motivate employeesDevelop employee skills and personal development plans Non-Essential Functions:Identify employee training needsAssist in recruitmentHelp evaluate employee performanceDistribute reportsProvide software application trainingAssist in software testingRequirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or industrial operationsStrong understanding of IFRS, South Africa’s GAAP, as well as US GAAPGood understanding of taxesThe ability to speak EnglishPersonal computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and ExcelExperience working with an ERP system (JDE, SAP, QAD, etc)Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional resultsFamiliarity with QAD, Hyperion or Discoverer applicationsBenefits:Salary negotiable RPO is a Specialist Recruitment Agency that provides candidates and clients with unique recruitment solutions tailored to their needs.
