Introduction Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited ("WHC") is a wholly-owned Company of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) under its Faculty of Health Sciences. WHC provides Faculty with a legal framework within which to operate the research and other activities necessary to support its academic objectives. In addition, WHC offers a range of products and services to the Academics conducting these activities in order to assist with the management thereof. Description Main purpose of the job: Responsible for full asset function, including capitalization, asset tagging, verification, disposals, deletions, transfers, reconciliations, reporting & liaising with site Location: 31 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown - Johannesburg Key performance areas: Ensure effective clearing of asset suspense accounts and report on updates timeously Ensure correct documentation and information are obtained, tax invoice agrees to a suspense account, signed, dated delivery notes, correctly signed off the disposal, transfer forms, and authorization for deletions obtained Timeous and accurate processing of all asset functions, including Fixed Assets and Small Assets, in accordance with company policies Obtain additional information required for assets (serial numbers, custodian, location, etc.) and update accordingly Ensure month-end checks are conducted and signed off Conduct asset verification and take the relevant action to ensure that all assets are accounted for Physical verification is conducted on sites where there is greater risk, based on the asset quantity and value Email verification is conducted on sites where there is lesser risk, based on the asset quantity and value Assets are all tagged with asset number and/or USAID sticker where required Ensure that all verifications are correctly signed off, by 2 people, dated, and saved Post verifications ensure effective maintenance and updating of the Asset register and asset listing to ensure that all records are complete and up to date with the latest information Adherence to systems, procedures, and policies, to company and departmental guidelines Compilation and submission of documents for audit (statutory and donor audits) Communication with the Grants team, site staff, and other internal departments Maintain a manual and electronic filing and storage system as required per WHC policies and procedures Required minimum education and training: Grade 12 Finance related Diploma or Degree will be an added advantage Must have a driver's License Required minimum work experience: Minimum 1-year accounting system processing experience with general administration experience Experience with fixed assets will be an added advantage Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities: Experience in any accounting system is advantageous & a very good understanding of accounting Strong Microsoft Excel skills Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) Self-motivated, effective self-management, confident & assertive Good team player Good time management skills Organized, systematic, proactive, adaptable, resilient & deadline-driven Ability to work overtime when required Able to travel to visit sites as and when required Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, managers, and clients Able to work in a pressurized environment, manage large volumes, demanding customers & interruptions; while maintaining attention to detail TO APPLY: Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.
