Job Title: IT Infrastructure Administrator – Southern Suburbs, Cape Town Location: Cape Town Duties & Responsibilities: Commercial / Customers: Manage client relationships Ensure that client queries are responded to within a timely manner Ensure that business products & service offerings stay competitive and in line with market related offerings Staff Management: Overall management of the IT department Manage the following staff complement 4x Cabling Technicians 1x ISP Support Technician 2x Desktop Support Technicians Schedule technicians for installations and site visits Provide guidance and task assignment to staff Identify training needs, motivate and uplift staff Draft, review and implement IT policies and procedures for the organisation Ensure that staff adhere to standard operating procedures MMR / Node Rooms: Manage all data rooms and node rooms by ensuring that the team documents all equipment in each room and follows maintenance procedures so that all equipment is correctly maintained, labelled and managed to the standard required for a first-tier network provider (TIA/EIA-568-B) Manage new ISP builds Regular reporting on the status of infrastructure health Identifying and planning upgrades of network infrastructure and implementation thereof Ensure that scheduled changes take place and are completed Investigate new infrastructure hardware on an ongoing basis that could improve both the company or customers and provide reporting Last Mile Installations: Management of last mile fibre installations Project management of fibre projects New build design, installations and commissioning Wireless Installations: Management of wireless installations Project management of wireless roll-outs New build design, installations and commissioning Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle Clear health record Clear criminal record Clear credit record Contactable references Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent would be advantageous Mikrotik Qualification beneficial Wireless Certificate beneficial Experience and Knowledge: Proven work experience in a similar role ISP or telecommunications background, management and good understanding of Wireless High-Sites and Fibre Node rooms Project management experience is advantageous Skills and Attributes: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Proven organisational and administration skills Customer service orientated – ensuring corporate and residential customers are happy Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Leadership skills Deadline driven Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated Ability to convey technical knowledge, liaise with providers and deal with issues proactively The main purpose of this position: Our Client who forms part of a larger Group, is a leading Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Fibre Network Operator (FNO) that connects you to the Internet through high-speed & uncapped fibre solutions, wireless fibre packages and VoIP connections. We work with leading underlying infrastructure providers (including our own) which boasts a connection to the various Data Centres both locally and Internationally. We are looking for a well-seasoned IT Infrastructure Administrator that will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a small team of wireless and cable installation technicians as well as our internal IT team.
