Group Inventory Accountant - Durban
I'm currently seeking a Group Inventory Accountant to join my client in the manufacturing industry, based in Durban, KZN. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing inventory control measures to ensure accurate stock information. Responsibilities:
- Implement and improve processes and systems to control stock accuracy
- Prepare and maintain accurate procedures for all inventory control processes and functions
- Manage control measures to remove mistakes, inaccuracies, and discrepancies
- Perform cyclic stock checks and keep a note of company's inventory shortfalls and surplus
- Provide routine management information on inventory levels, consumption, and costs
- Coordinate with Finance to ensure all products are properly taken into account in the cost of sales and inventory costs
- Communicate regularly with suppliers, customers, and internal functional departments
- Prepare and review tax and vat returns, journal entries, and monthly audit files
- Assist with fixed assets when necessary
- Perform forecasts on new or existing projects and review new systems and procedures in finance
- Assist with month end procedures
- Review monthly income statements and investigate any issues noted
- Perform internal audit work as required and any other accountant related tasks
Requirements:
- B. Com or equivalent in Finance/Accounting
- Relevant qualification in Manufacturing
- A minimum of 5 years' experience
- Syspro experience is essential
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Excel
- A Detailed understanding of inventory control systems (BARCO is advantageous)
