Job Tile: Guillotine Operator Location: Cape Town Salary: Market-Related Duties: Set up and prepare the guillotine shearing machine for operation, including adjusting blade clearance and back gauge settings. Load metal sheets onto the machine bed, ensuring proper alignment and positioning for accurate cutting. Operate the guillotine shearing machine controls to initiate the cutting process and produce metal sheets to the required dimensions. Monitor the cutting process and make adjustments as necessary to ensure clean, straight cuts and minimal material waste. Inspect cut metal sheets for quality and accuracy, identifying any defects or irregularities and taking corrective action as needed. Perform routine maintenance tasks on the guillotine shearing machine, such as blade sharpening, lubrication, and cleaning. Troubleshoot and resolve issues or malfunctions that may arise during the cutting process. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Requirements Previous experience operating guillotine shearing machines in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with different types of metals and their cutting characteristics. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards. Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to meet production deadlines. High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in metalworking or related field is a plus.
