Position: Head Guide
Location: Kruger National Park
The main role of the Head Guide is to manage daily duties and manage the departmental teams; and to provide all-encompassing wildlife experience to every guest with a focus on catering to the specific needs of each individual guest.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the broader goals of the company in terms of the guiding department, by planning and implementing Strategic Management Plans.
- Management of relations with reserve/region representatives.
- Ensure the highest quality of game experience for the guests.
- Ensuring guests' preferences and dietaries are respected.
- Clearing off-road tracks, fallen trees, and overhanging branches from roads.
- Ensure that people's safety is always a priority.
- Oversee maintenance, tidiness and care of vehicles and other equipment.
- Undertake administrative duties as allocated.
- Teamwork.
- contributing content for the company's social media outlets.
- Active participation in and effective communication and support of the company's conservation message and purpose.
Skills & Experience:
- Eight or more years of guiding experience in a similar lodge environment.
- A minimum of NQF4 professional trails guide qualification.
- Facilitator and assessor qualification is advantageous.
- Valid registration with DEAT.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Valid Advanced Rifle Handling certificate, SAPS competency.
- Valid Driver's License and PDP.
- Fire boss skills will be an advantage.
- 4x4 Driving skills.
- Basic Labour Law knowledge.
- Good knowledge of photography, astronomy, botany, birding, and tracking is an advantage.
- Computer literacy and reporting skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work long hours under extreme conditions.
- Professional and neat appearance.
- Citizenship or a valid working visa.
