Head Of Infrastructure - South Africa
Purpose of role The Head of Infrastructure will oversee a team of technical experts to implement infrastructure solutions aligned with the IT strategy. They will also be responsible for crafting the IT Strategy and infrastructure operating plans, as well as designing and managing critical infrastructure and security elements. This position reports to the CFO and fosters productive collaborations with senior leadership and staff throughout the organization. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Possess a pertinent tertiary education in the IT field, with a preference for a focus on infrastructure and/or security. A Cybersecurity Certification will strengthen your application. Demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of practical experience as an IT infrastructure specialist or engineer. Showcase at least 5 years of relevant experience in IT management roles. Having an ITIL certification would be a beneficial asset. Holding certifications in Microsoft technologies such as SCCM, Azure, Windows Server, etc., would be advantageous. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop IT infrastructure strategy, roadmaps, and operational plans Architect and build core infrastructure components Manage public cloud infrastructure SLAs Migrate critical workloads to cloud platforms (preferably SaaS and PaaS) Ensure operational support meets agreed standards and SLAs Define IT budget and ensure financial control compliance Maintain legal and regulatory compliance Enforce cybersecurity best practices Establish infrastructure design, build, and maintenance standards Manage software asset management for infrastructure software Contribute to BCP and deliver IT DR plan Cultivate strategic vendor relationships Promote learning and development within the infrastructure space Key Skills and Competencies Strong communication skills, written and verbal Good people skills, dealing with various vendors and colleagues at different IT knowledge levels Able to get the job done under pressure and with minimal resources Relevant management skills required to motivate, coach, develop, and mentor a team for consistent high-quality work Attention to detail in IT security Able to adapt, learn, and execute new technologies Agility to adapt and prioritize workloads on demand Take ownership and become a custodian of the greater IT team to deliver sustainable solutions Active Directory advanced administrative function Exchange administration experience, hybrid deployment management SQL Server clustering administration Hyper-V Cluster administration Azure AD Connect knowledge and troubleshooting identity management in Hybrid environments Azure administration experience Strong O365 knowledge (SharePoint administration, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online) SCCM Operating System deployment, Software Distribution, Patch Management Sound understanding of core networking infrastructure (HP/Aruba networks) Administration of wireless network infrastructure Experience with Dell SAN technologies and firmware microcode management Administer Synology NAS deployment across all 5 corporate offices (Replication/Firmware) Administration of Meraki SD-WAN (Next Gen Firewall) Knowledge of Site-to-Site VPN as well as point-to-site VPN Deep passion for technology and staying current with market trends Good understanding of End User Computing infrastructure end-to-end Email Security using MS Defender stack Endpoint Security using MS Defender stack Email compliance, DMARC/DKIM understanding Facilitating and driving discussions in the company's interest with third-party vendors Backup and replication technologies management and quarterly restore testing Providing input in building out the IT DR Plan Ensuring all key infrastructure and cloud workloads are well-documented and maintained Intune endpoint administration including updates management and package deployments in a Hybrid Azure AD scenario Tenable vulnerability scanner exposure and remediation Working with security vendors to understand and interpret penetration testing outcomes and required actions Creating technical documentation for reference of solutions and key changes introduced into the environment
