As the Head of Treasury for the Cape Union Mart Group, you will play a pivotal role in managing our financial resources and optimizing our liquidity and capital structure. You will lead the Treasury function, overseeing cash management, risk management, financing strategies, and investment activities to support the company's growth objectives and ensure financial stability. Key Responsibilities: Develop and Execute Treasury Strategies: Formulate comprehensive treasury strategies in line with the company's financial objectives and risk tolerance, ensuring alignment with overall business goals. This will include determining appropriate metric, benchmarks and way of measuring. Executue the strategies and continuously monitor their progress. Cash Flow Forecasting: Manage, prepare and refine cash flow forecasts and forecasting processes to maintain optimal liquidity, supporting operational needs and maximizing cash utilization efficiency. Financial Forecasting: Prepare and analyze Income Statement and Balance Sheet forecasts to provide insights into current financial performance and inform decision-making for future financial objectives. Financial Modelling Modernization: Lead efforts to modernize financial and cash flow forecasting models, integrating them with merchandise team models where possible to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Risk Management: Monitor market trends, interest rates, and foreign exchange risks, and develop and implement hedging strategies to mitigate exposure effectively. Ensure the implementation of robust controls relating to all treasury matters across the Group, including managing banking access. Operationalise Hedging Policy: Negotiate and buy foreign exchange contracts and other financial instruments which cover financial liabilities in-line with Group policy. Advise buyers on seasonal rates. Report on cover vs liabilities. Financing Transactions: Evaluate and execute financing transactions, including debt issuance, credit facilities, and optimizing capital structure to support the company's financial strategy. These include short term (daily) and medium-term financing decisions. Payment Approval: Approve payments to local and international suppliers as well as employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. Decide on, instruct and authorise the movement of cash reserves between bank accounts. Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banks, financial institutions, and external stakeholders, serving as the primary contact person for treasury-related matters. Commercial Negotiations: Negotiate favourable commercial terms with banking and financial partners to optimize financial arrangements and minimize costs. Financial Information Disclosure: Manage the disclosure of financial information to credit bureaus, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations. Investment Management: Lead investment activities, evaluating opportunities and risks to maximize returns on excess cash balances while maintaining appropriate levels of liquidity. Treasury System Optimization: Oversee the implementation and optimization of treasury management systems and technology solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy in treasury operations. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including financial reporting standards, banking regulations, and other relevant guidelines. Policy Adherence: Monitor adherence to internal policies and processes, approving deviations where necessary for business-critical operations while maintaining compliance standards. Open-to-Buy (OTB) Compliance: Ensure compliance with open-to-buy thresholds to support effective inventory management and financial planning. Strategic Financial Advisory: Provide strategic financial advice and support to senior management, contributing insights to decision-making processes and business planning initiatives. Reporting: Partner with the Financial Manager and CFO/FD, in the development of treasury dashboards, reports and Board presentation and other Treasury/Liquidity packs. Cascade the relevant reporting down to a General Manager level. Qualifications and Experience: CA (SA), CFA or equivalent degree. Proven experience in treasury management, with 4 - 8 years in a leadership role. Deep understanding of financial markets, risk management principles, and treasury best practices. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and make strategic recommendations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Proficiency in treasury management systems and financial software applications.
