The Position: Join us to lead our vision of innovation and growth for the Australian Development Center based in Virginia, Brisbane. Role Responsibilities: This is transformational time for our business as we strive to push boundaries and take the center above and beyond just operational capabilities. As the Head of Virginia Development Center- you will deliver the business priorities which include: Develop the DC vison and strategy and the roadmap to deliver the DC transformation in line with business strategy: Responsible for developing and delivering the DC Vision and transformation in line with the Fit-for-Growth initiative and global and regional business strategies. Full line management accountability for all Development Center employees across the various functions and responsibilities - Formulation / Development, Analytical, and Technical Regulatory CMC. A key aspect for the role is ensuring the highest standards of expertise in each area and effective integration of the various functions to enable an innovative and effective organisation Strong leadership skills are essential to drive this multi-functional integration, CHC Consumer orientation / challenger mindset and results-orientation Responsible for recruitment, training and development of staff, building facility and capabilities to ensure state-of-the-art facilities / ways of working and a highly motivated, effective organization Responsible for driving the Output / Projects from the Center Monitoring project progress and ensuring delivery of key development projects, working closely as a key interface with Science Hub (SH) and both Regional and Global R&D Brand teams covering end-to-end development from ideation to launch Build internal and external capabilities in order to deliver against brand innovation plans. Actively contribute to ideation using your technical insights on what is possible. Ensure sustainability and design to value are built into project scopes The Head of the Center also needs to have the technical experience to anticipate potential technical issues and ensure robust Development plans Play an important role in resolving issues when they occur, ensuring transparency and good communication on projects with other team members and stimulating / attracting new projects Ensuring effective processes and planning / management of resources bringing FMCH to life Developing the appropriate budget plan per year plus Capex investments of approx. gaining agreement to this and managing to the budget. Adopts new ways of working including agile and scrum methodologies to enable fast effective execution of projects. Works with Quality to ensure appropriate "Smart" quality standards are applied considering the scope and regulatory status of the work undertaken. The Head of Center will also ensure necessary systems and processes are in place to conduct the work efficiently and to pass audits Ensuring effective implementation of new technologies / capabilities The Development center Head will be responsible for the management of the successful implementation of new technologies or capabilities within the center as needed / required from the business. Eg. Successful acquisition and implementation of new equipment/technologies associated with new projects and/or building new systems, procedures and infrastructures to implement Key Relationships This is an integral role that requires the ability to develop business relationships both locally and globally within the business: Global business partners including country GMs and Regional Business Innovation Heads Global SH & GH colleagues including Regional and Global Brand leaders and teams. Innovation & Program Management team. Platform and Breakthrough R&D, Consumer Science teams M&S Colleagues including local Site Head and Leadership Team External Network of development Partners and Experts About You & Key Criteria for the role: Qualifications: A degree or PHD in Science, Pharmacy, Food Supplements/ Cosmetics/ Physical Sciences or similar Experience: 15 years' experience leading Development / innovation activities with extensive experience within the scope of the center's main responsibilities Experience in leading a multi-functional highly skilled technical organization Previously leadership of a Development Center or for candidates with outstanding credentials- at minimum position such as Head of Formulation or Head of Analytical science leading a team of people in a Development Center Skills and Attributes: Professional skills in technical problem solving, ideally project management / delivery of innovation projects to the market Excellent analytical skills highly desirable Knowledge of relevant Technical Regulatory fields (CMC requirements for OTC products, Medical Device Requirements, Food supplements) advantageous Strong leadership and communication skills- ability to interface effectively with senior management up to and including senior CHC Executive level Excellent knowledge of English essential Ability to work in a matrix organization and in complex and changing environment.
