The key purpose of this role is to provide on the “ground, technical and operational” overseeing and professional OHS management system thereby ensuring that the Company operates in a lawful and ethical manner, abides to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, Road Transport Act, Governance Codes (Combined Code) of practice pertaining to OHS Management, Including Famous Brands Safety Policy and Standards and Corporate Governance and ensures protection of stakeholder interests through the mitigation at source of loss and safety risk, pure and speculative across the broad spectrum of the Famous Brands operations 1. Health, Safety and Environment Conduct shop-floor ongoing coaching on OHS Act . To ensure compliance with the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and COID Act. Accountable to providing sustainable OHS support to the sites stationed at and remotely contracted to support including the Franchised operations. The OHS professional needs to be available for emergencies. Business hazards are not contained within perimeter fencing but one must devise smart plans to work in collaboration with multiple stakeholders. Conduct daily stringent inspections of the DC/ Plant for compliance against legal and company requirements, Maintain and archive records & documentation as per FB and legal requirements. Manage internal self-audits and analyze findings and monitor implementation of corrective action. Coordinate OHS Internal and NOSA external Audits to ensure full compliance and analyze findings and monitor implementation of corrective action. Implement and sustain the Safety through FB Internal OHS management system and NOSA grading system, Attending daily walkabouts Plant/DC Meeting providing insight on contractor performance aligned to the TOR, Empower operators and line managers to be able to provide an encompassing leadership to operations. Develop and maintain site standards to minimize losses, ensure compliance to legal provisions e.g., OHS Act, Environmental Act, and limited exposures. To be accountable for the maintenance of the environmental program and the execution of required internal and external audits. Ensure all workplace hazards are identified and communicated to all staff. Ensure all new employees and contractors are inducted on the OHS program. Ensure site procedures and work instructions are maintained, issued to staff and relevant staff training is conducted. Accountable to ensure that these safety risks are adequately addressed and to monitor audits/surveys/maintenance to ensure that fire and explosion risks are minimized. Site Safety 5s and review maintenance SOPs to ensure safe practices are followed. Utilize My OSH to report non-conformances, incidents, and accidents. Actively manage the SHE programs for the facility. Roll out the OHS Management Program and manage the system on a day-to-day basis to ensure full compliance. Arrange and manage monthly H&S Meetings. Conduct and manage Incident/Accident Investigations and reporting. Manage all OHS Training Requirements and develop site specific Training needs analysis. Manage the Fire Sprinkler System and ensure that bi-annual services are conducted and ASIB certification in place. SHE Rep monthly inspections are conducted, and action plan developed. Manage all Forklift/Reach Truck license requirements and training. Ensure Plant staff follow safe working procedures in line with OHS Act, as well as customer requirements. 2.Administration Assess and manage all operational critical control areas to ensure all OHS and Environment criteria are met. Manage administrative functions and proactively prepare all required documentation for the various Audits. Ensure that company policies are always adhered to. Manage and ensure that all crew members adhere to the prescribed SOP's. Ensure all reports are compiled and circulated across all departments on timeously. Ensure that KPI targets are achieved and in line with the prescribed SLA's. Ensure all injuries on duty are reported and registered on COID comp easy system. Review and update Fire, Health, Security and Site OHS Risk Assessments. 3.Risk Management Custodian of the MYOSH system. Ensure Risk Register is developed and updated annually. Manage security, facility access and alarm systems. Plant, inventory, and equipment safety. Waste and utilities management. Enforce adherence to Contractor Control procedure. Coordinate Induction of Visitors/Suppliers. 4.Facilities Management Annual Thermal Imaging of all DB Boards. Earth Leakage Testing of all DB Boards – Once every 3 months. Ensure cold chain temperature measures are in place, taking corrective action on deviations. Monthly racking inspections and annual racking certification. Ensure all damages to racking and other incidents are attended to immediately, corrective action taken, incident accident investigations completed, and recommendations reported to Management. Report and monitor the MHE machinery. Grade 12 Relevant 3-year tertiary degree/diploma in Safety Management with SAMTRAC, ITIS/Train-the-trainer and RCat/NOSA Incident Investigation L3. Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office and Familiarity with conducting data analysis & reporting statistics and producing reports. 2 -3 years OHS functional work experience. Excellent knowledge of legislation & procedure (OSHAct 93 of 1993, COID Act, etc.) and governance knowledge. Sound knowledge of OHS/NOSA Audit system. Business financial acumen. Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety. People management experience and outstanding organizational skills. Working knowledge of OHS Management information system.
