IFRS and Compliance Specialist Location: Capetown Salary: R55 000CTC The purpose of this position is to manage the regulatory compliance and risk of the Group. Implementation of new IFRS stands and interpretations, provide IFRS support and other technical support within the finance function of the Group. RESPONSIBILITIES: Implementation of new IFRS standards Assessment of annual financial statements for the Group Review of and support for technical working papers that serve as input to the annual financial statements and integrated report. Depending on capacity within the team, it could also include the compiling thereof. Advisory on IFRS & Tax implications for all major transactions and contracts Monitor regulatory compliance with JSE listing requirement Monitor statutory compliance with the Companies Act Monitor compliance with the income tax act for all transactions General IFRS technical support to the rest of the Group, including training sessions (group and/or individual). Review JSE related reports: SENS announcement, summarized results, advertisements (but not limited to) Assist with regulatory reporting as and when required Maintain and manage the risk register for the company and group Oversee the implementation of external audit, internal audit and audit committee recommendations Overall risk & compliance for the Group Review of the valuation of unlisted investments (portfolio and strategic) for submission to committee/board approval. Documenting guidelines, processes and procedures where appropriate. All other ad hoc tasks that may be required from time to time. PREFERRED MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Qualified CA(SA) Extensive Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards; Knowledge of Value Added Tax, Income Tax and Companies Act; Knowledge of JSE listing requirements Minimum of 3 years working experience; Academic articles beneficial Audit manager experience beneficial COMPETENCIES Attention to detail and accuracy Judgement and problem-solving Self-motivated and highly productive Strong communication skills
