They must be able to recognize and respond to various medical emergencies, monitor vital signs, and provide life-saving interventions. Responding to emergencies: to respond to medical emergencies, including accidents, cardiac arrests, and other life-threatening situations. They must be able to act quickly and provide immediate care until more advanced medical treatment can be provided. Transporting patients to hospitals or other medical facilities. They must ensure the safe transfer of patients and provide appropriate care during transportation. guidelines governing occupational health and safety, ensuring the workplace meets all legal requirements. Responsible for administering medications to patients, including painkillers, antibiotics, and other medicines. They must be familiar with the different types of drugs and their effects on the body. Managing healthcare equipment: ILS practitioners must be able to operate and maintain medical equipment, such as ventilators, defibrillators, and oxygen tanks. They must also be prepared to troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise. Record keeping: ILS practitioners must keep accurate records of patient care, including vital signs, medical history, and treatment plans. They must also maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Communicating with other healthcare professionals: ILS practitioners must be able to work as part of a healthcare team, communicating with doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals to ensure that patients receive comprehensive care Grade 12 Senior Certificate (Matric). Intermediate Life Support (ILS) certified HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice. Must have a valid driver's license. A valid Professional Driving Permit. Able to work shifts. Reliable transport, especially outside of normal working hours when working shifts. 1 - 2 years experience in an EMS environment.
