Information Technology Executive - Pretoria

Our client is seeking an experienced Information Technology Executive based in Pretoria to join their team based on a permanent basis.

Work Experience

The role and responsibilities of the Executive: Information Technology include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the development of overall organisational strategy.
  • Work together with Trustees and Executive management within Bestmed to establish the contribution that International Systems Development can make to Bestmed’s objectives by defining strategies, specifying requirements, conducting feasibility studies and producing strategic models of the organisation’s information needs.
  • Compile, execute and manage ICT .
  • Recognise alternative ICT solutions for delivering more efficient services to Bestmed
  • Provide BOT and Executive Management with ICT information to support them in decision making on key business imperatives.
  • Ensure compliance with King IV principles.
  • Successfully negotiate and manage contracts and service levels and specifications with Bestmed third party service providers.
  • Be an effective final point of escalation for any issues or problems raised by third party service providers or users, and arbitrates in situations of conflict.
  • Ensure good communications between 3rd party providers and users within Bestmed.
  • Continuously ensure the proper monitoring of the 3rd party supplier contracts and initiate actions, including the enforcement of any penalty clauses, to bring contracts back into line or to terminate them.
  • Effectively report against agreed strategies, plans and required outcomes on a regular base.
  • Accurately produce business cases for recommended new strategies, identifying the business impact, the probability of satisfying business needs, the anticipated business benefits and the risks and consequences of failure.
  • Manage and plan ICT including policy and practice development, planning, budgeting, resourcing and training.
  • Select and implement suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimise their strategic benefits.
  • Approve purchases of technological equipment and software and establish partnerships with ICT providers.
  • Conduct strategic hardware and software needs analysis and planning.
  • Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the organisation to ensure optimal performance.
  • Direct and organise ICT-related projects.
  • Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the organisation can gain competitive advantage.
  • Analyse the costs, value and risks of information technology to advise executive management and suggest actions.
  • Staff Management.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Grade 12.
  • IT or Business related degree.
  • 12 years of IT-related experience, of which 5 must be managerial experience is essential.
  • Medical Scheme Industry experience would be preferred.
  • Proven experience as CIO or similar managerial role
  • Excellent knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure (Oracle exposure and relevant languages pertaining to the clients administration system)
  • Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting and business operations
  • Background in designing/developing IT systems and planning IT implementation
  • Functional knowledge of IT infrastructure planning (hardware and software related)
  • Expert ability to function on a strategic level
