Opportunity A.P Maersk is seeking a highly motivated and organized Inland First Mile Agent to join our Customs Operations Execution team in Durban, South Africa. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and executing activities related to customs clearance, compliance, and transport operations for overborder movements, including truck, rail, and LCL. You will be required to have strong attention to detail, be a multi-tasker, and have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Responsibilities: Manage and execute customs clearance activities for overborder movements, including truck, rail, and LCL, ensuring compliance with international customs laws and regulations. Coordinate and facilitate the movement of goods through various transport modes, including LCL transport operations. Maintain accurate records and documentation, including customs forms, invoices, and other relevant documents. Communicate effectively and efficiently with internal and external customers, including vendors, to ensure smooth and efficient customs clearance processes. Handle file/job from start to finish, including invoicing, and ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and on time. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Work independently and apply standards, with the ability to make departures from established processes to resolve problems. Continuously improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency and productivity, while ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. Requirements: 3-5 years of experience in handling overborder movements, including truck, rail, and LCL. Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Strong vendor management skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office and customs clearance software. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods. Available to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as logistics, supply chain management, or customs clearance. Knowledge of LCL transport operations.
