An opportunity has become available for a Dynamic individual to join the largest Intellectual Property Firm in Africa and one of the biggest law firms in South Africa. Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Intermediate SQL Developer to play a crucial role in our IT team. This position involves supporting the Senior SQL Developer in implementing BI solutions and handling ad hoc data requests from the financial department. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in SQL development within a Microsoft environment and the ability to respond swiftly and accurately to data-related inquiries and tasks. Duties and responsibilities Support for Senior SQL Developer: Assist in the development and maintenance of SQL databases, BI solutions, and data warehousing projects. Help in optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and reports under the guidance of the Senior SQL Developer. Ad Hoc Data Requests: Promptly and efficiently handle ad hoc data requests from the financial department. Ensure accurate and timely delivery of requested data and reports, adhering to financial data standards and compliance. BI Development and Reporting: Contribute to the development of business intelligence solutions using tools like Microsoft SQL Server and Power BI. Develop and maintain reports and dashboards, focusing on financial data needs. ETL and Data Integration: Assist in creating and maintaining ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and other relevant tools. Support data quality and integrity efforts in financial reporting. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the financial department to understand and fulfil their data requirements. Collaborate with the IT team to contribute to larger data projects and initiatives. Skills and knowledge Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or significant experience in SQL development. 2-3 years of experience in SQL development, particularly in a Microsoft environment. Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, and knowledge of T-SQL. Experience in handling ad hoc data requests and providing timely solutions. Good understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines. Effective communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. Qualification/s Experience in a financial data environment. Familiarity with financial reporting standards and requirements.
