Development of 3-year and annual internal audit plans. Ensure that audits are conducted in accordance with the approved audit methodology and IIA standards. Plan, execute, review and report audit assignments, (e.g. assist in planning audit assignments, prepare audit programmes, review working paper files and internal audit reports) Lead and manage internal audit teams to ensure that audit projects are executed and performance targets are achieved. Build and maintain relationship with all stakeholders. Provide Management and Audit Committee with timely audit reports. Attend and present Reports at Management and Audit Committee Meetings. Manage internal audit resources effectively and perform ad-hoc assignments, train, mentor and develop team members. Monitor and maintain policies, procedures and processes An appropriate three-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent with majors in Auditing / Internal Auditing and Accounting / Finance. A minimum of five (5) years management experience in Internal Auditing at Local Government A valid driver's license as the candidate will be required to travel. Knowledge of the Municipal Systems Act (MSA) and Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and related legislation and policies. Knowledge of King III report on corporate governance, financial management and understanding business processes will be an added advantage. Must have communication, co-ordination, report writing, presentation, strategic planning, leadership, project management and analytical skills. Computer literacy, with emphasis on Google Drive Suite, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel is required. Must have interviewing and investigation skills. Candidates that have obtained the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation may be preferred and must also be a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and comply with the standards of the professional practice of Internal Auditing.
